Lily Evans, that's all I was thinking about. She's all I can ever think about. Her gentle voice replaying through my mind. She is the most magnificent person I've ever laid my eyes upon.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Professor Slughorn dropped a book on the ground. I looked over to Sirius who sat beside me, he was looking at me weird. I wasn't sure what for but that was soon discovered "Prongs what the hell." I just stared at him confused. "Have you seriously not heard a single word of what I've been saying" Sirius said in a monotone voice. "Not really" I said while catching a glimpse of Lily.
"Okay whatever. I was saying that Lily was talking to Remus and asking him to go to the library to study after curfew." Sirius said while playing with his rings on his fingers. "What's that have to do with us?" I asked confused. "Are you stupid." Sirius responded as soon as my mouth closed. "When has Lily ever been one to stay out after hours?" He continued.
"Oh yeah uh I'm not really sure." I said scratching the back of my neck. "Are you actually not thinking what I am?" He asked genuinely. "I'm actually too busy thinking about Evans right now Sirius. I wasn't thinking about anything but her." Sirius rolled his eyes at my response and quickly replied "When aren't you. I was thinking that we would grab your invisibility cloak to see what's going on."
"You're so smart Pads." I said with a grin. "Why thank you Prongs." Sirius responded with an ego inflated larger than an almost bursting balloon.
A few hours had passed since me and Pads had talked about our plan. We would've brought Peter with us, but he was fast asleep. As I was grabbing the cloak from my chest, I heard the faint voice of Lily leaving her room to meet up with Moony. He was already downstairs in the common room, reading a book to wind down. Me and Sirius put the cloak on and walked down the stairs. We saw their silhouettes exiting the common room.
We kept quiet while following them there. Their wands illuminated the halls enough for us to see about 10 feet behind them. They entered the library and me and Pads had to almost sprint to make it in before the door would have slammed on us.
Remus and Lily settled down at a small table in the far corner. They didn't grab any books though. Me and Sirius approached their table but stood about five feet away to their left. I had a perfect view of Lily and Pads had a great view of Moony.
"So what's up Lily?" Remus asked quietly and calmly. "I don't even know how to say it. It feels so wrong, knowing everything that had happened to Sev because of him." Lily said, clearly distraught. "What are you talking about Lil?" Remus asked with his head tilted to the side. "I think I like James." I silently gasped in awe. Lily Evans just said she likes me. After years of trying to get her attention. Sirius looked over at me, with a massive smirk on his face. Lily continued "I don't even know how, it used to be so easy to ignore him. It used to be so easy to push him away because of everything that happened with Severus. I don't know what changed. I've been feeling like this for weeks. Every time I see him my heart starts racing. Every time he makes a comment, I can feel my face start to turn red. It's all so weird, and this is the first time I've said it out loud."
Remus nodded and spoke "I understand, but you know James won't reject you. He's been fawning over you since our first year. Not that he'd let you forget." Lily chuckled. So Remus continued, "Are you waiting for him to ask you again? Or what's your entire plan with all of this?" Lily looked down at the bare table in front of her "I think so, a part of me feels so guilty, as much as I care for Severus. I just can't keep pretending I don't feel this way about him."
The sound of glass shattering sounded through the library. Lily and Remus scurried out of their seats and made their way back to the Fat Lady portrait. Me and Pads tailing them, of course.
They sat in the living room to finish their conversation and as much as we wanted to listen we knew we wouldn't make it back upstairs before Remus expecting anything if we didn't leave it now. I layed on my bed smiling as I drifted to sleep. I knew exactly what to do.As soon as I woke up I lept out of bed and rushed outside to the garden. There had been a massive blossom of flowers lately and I just knew that this was a perfect time.
I fixed my hair as I walked back into the common room. The sight was just as I had expected. Lily walking to the portrait as I walked in. "Lily, will you please just give me a shot?" I asked as I extended the bouquet of pink and yellow flowers to her hand. Her lips curled into a smile and kissed me.
