A/N: The villages may have some small differences like having a decent sized field of crops and such, it won't be brought up and won't change the story in any way I just don't want questions or people being like- "They didn't have that many people! And they didn't have that amount of crop fields! >:(" Anyway, I hope you enjoy or find some entertainment in this :].

The rain was heavy, and the storm filled with rage had lightning striking small patches of land.

You had been walking to a village on your map, it was small, you assumed nothing eventful would come your way.

You needed a change of pace. Even if it was for a small period of time, a break would be nice so as not to over exert yourself.

You had previously stepped down of your role as head guard. You had enough of your lord being a lazy pig that didn't care for the village even if it meant their starvation, an awful person in your eyes.

You had planned to take his life, but his relations with O'khasis proved it to be difficult in the long run.

Sure, it's a simple job, but with him 'aiding' O'khasis, they'll definitely take the easy route and assume it's you cause you're from the nether and your species being depicted as snobby, greedy and having violent outbursts.

It gets annoying after a while, people treating you like scum, but some respect you, just not for the right reasons.

You earned your place in this world. It just didn't turn out the way you wanted. The people around you and the man you served didn't make it possible for you to want to actually protect them. Not to say they're all bad people, but most made it difficult.

Being sent on ridiculously useless missions and having to aid O'khasis in war was a decently contributing factor to why you left.

You had set off to Phoenix Drop. It was a small village settlement that surrounded its ruins. You had figured it'd be easy and no hassle. Obviously, it'd have it's moments but it can't be horrible.

You had made a small campsite for the night, a decent area under a bit of rock.

You had started cooking a rabbit you found earlier. It'd been a few hours since you had food. You had to ration what you had packed. Finding food as a traveler was almost a blessing from Irene these days, most villages having killed almost all the surrounding animals for food, understandably so.

(In Phoenix Drop)

There was a bit of rain throughout the night. It was fairly light and calming. By now, some of the villagers have woken up and started getting ready for the day.
Some had even been up all night.
It was peaceful, nobody in a bad mood, maybe a bit of the normal grumps in the morning but nothing that affected the villages well being was happening.

A few hours later, few are tending to the crops, very few random folks being around, and somebody walking up to the gate.

As they were walking up, they saw a group of people gathered at the gate, two people having a short lasted hug and a few more folk, one of them most likely being from the Yaggersil Forest.

The traveler has been slightly confused but otherwise paid no mind to it and walked up to the gate, though still going unnoticed by most of them, a brunette haired man had taken notice of the traveler but only glanced, not wanting to immediately assume trouble from them.

They stood behind everyone, having been waiting to notify the Lord of their arrival.

They've briefly met before after having to accompany a meeting between two Lord's, then after, having a short conversation.

After everyone had been assumingly done talking, the Lord took notice of the traveler, and he slightly rushed over to the old acquaintance from a month or so ago.

"Ah, hello, Y/N, sorry if I hadn't noticed you earlier. I was having a bit of a reunion, my apologies. I'm glad you sent a letter about having such an interest in staying here.
It's my pleasure to have you here.
There should be a house with basic necessities inside, a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and a restroom."

"It really is nice to have you here considering the bandits around these parts. We could really use someone like you, really."

You could tell he meant it even though it was just him being formal. You smiled.

"Your words are very much appreciated. I thank you for letting me stay in your village. You have no idea how much it means to me, considering what I am, I'm forever grateful"

After a small while, you went inside your new house. It's cozy, not too big, not too small. You had settled down for the meantime, putting on some casual clothing after putting some stuff that was in your bag away.

After about three hours, you heard a knocking on your door. You went to see who it was. A smaller woman was at the front door. You looked at her. She had black hair and brown eyes with spots of yellow and wore black and purple clothing.

"Hello, I'm Aphmau! I noticed you're new here and thought I'd introduce myself since you probably don't know anyone yet. What's your name?"

She has this vibe about her. She seems nice and hasn't yet given you any reason not to trust her.

"I'm (Y/N), nice to meet you, Aphmau. I take it you've been here a while? You seem to be close with the Lord here, given your embrace at the gate." You had said with a kind, monotone voice.

"In a way, I haven't exactly been here in a few years. Anyway, let's get to know each other if that's alright with you. I don't wanna be too pushy!"

You smiled.
"I would like that. Come in, please, have a seat."

The two had sat down at a table, facing each other.

"So... how'd you know about Phoenix Drop? It's a considerably small village, not with a lot of people, so I doubt it's on any map."
Aphmau questions, not with any suspicions. She's just curious.

"Hm, well. I used to be a head guard. During my time as such, my former Lord had to meet with the one here for a discussion about an alliance. It didn't go well. With O'khasis in the picture, they weren't able to come up with a solution or any type of agreement. The Lord here is kind and logical. While the other is rude and wastes resources for pointless requests."

You sighed.

"Though, after that. I eventually met up with Lord Levin, and we talked. I had mentioned my desire to get out of the village and find a nice, cozy place to stay. After that, he offered me a place at Phoenix Drop. If I helped around when needed, I could stay here without problem."

After explaining, answering more questions, and going into some detail about an hour and a half had passed.

Aphmau glanced outside the window.

"Jeez, it's getting dark. I guess I'll be going now. It was nice talking to you! Maybe you can meet the others tomorrow as long as nothing comes up."

You smiled.

"Sure! I'm not opposed."

Aphmau smiled back.

"Sounds like a plan! Cya!"

After she had walked out back to wherever her place of stay was, (Y/N) had started walking to their room.

After (Y/N) had put on their pajamas, they started to do their nightly routine. Brush teeth, wash themselves, then lay in bed.

A/N. HEEEEY CHAPT ONE!!! I would also like to say that if you have read any of my other (horrible and mostly have been deleted) fanfics and have been wondering when I'll give those an update, I doubt it. ALSO I'M 14 NOW AND REALIZE: "Maybe I shouldn't write smut, that- that seems like a noooo because it'd be WEIRD." So I doubt any smut/lemons will happen. As for THIS BOOK, I would greatly appreciate any ideas/suggestions you have for this! I value your input greatly and want to be able to make something YOU can enjoy, if I get any popular requests I will try to fit it into the story, but I do apologize if I can't or just don't. <3
