"I'm really craving some hot coffee," Aryan complained, stretching his arms.
"Let's get some," Abhi replied, switching on Google Maps. "There's a place called Rosie Café about a kilometer from here."
"Sounds good, let's head there," I said, turning the car in the café's direction.
As we pulled up, Aryan admired the quaint little spot. "Wow, this place has such a beautiful vibe."
"Yeah, it's peaceful," Abhi added, nodding in agreement.
We found a cozy corner at the back and sat down. The place had warm lighting and a soothing ambiance, perfect for unwinding. Soon, the waiter came over with three menus. Her voice was soft and familiar.
"What would you like to order, sir?"
I froze. That voice. It couldn't be- "Nahithi?" Aryan practically shouted, his eyes wide in surprise.
"Hi, guys," Nahithi smiled, the same warm smile that used to melt my heart.
"You here?" I asked, my voice quieter, more reserved.
"Yeah, just a side hustle for extra cash," Nahithi replied casually, like seeing us here was no big deal. But it felt like the ground had shifted beneath me.
As Aryan began to order, I couldn't take my eyes off her. She still had that sparkle, maybe she'd lost a little weight, but her dimples when she smiled-everything about her still made my heart race. It was frustrating how much power she had over me without even trying.
She nodded, taking our orders, and walked away. But I couldn't stop staring, her presence pulling me in like it always had. I was barely paying attention to Aryan and Abhi's conversation when my phone rang. It was a relative.
"What did they say?" Abhi asked after I hung up.
"They've got some family functions at 7 p.m. and requested that I join them," I informed them, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Are you going?" Aryan asked.
"Yeah, no other option, bro," I said, jokingly. "Want to tag along?"
Both of them laughed and immediately rejected the offer.
