"Don't, I can't bear to be called 'Your Highness.'" Ye Yun suppressed her gaze.

She was proud but not arrogant, even though she ranked at the bottom of the nine consorts.

Yi Shunrong clearly shared this sentiment; she chuckled lightly, turned her head, and took a sip of tea, saying nothing.

This was initiated by the two of them, and now they had left Qin Shi hanging.

For a moment, Qin Shi felt awkward and somewhat at a loss.

"Alright, since you've all paid your respects, you can go back and rest for now. Wait for the Emperor to summon you; once you've served the night, you'll be proper concubines."

The Empress waved her hand, concluding the meeting between the old and new members.

Once outside Fengxi Palace, Ye Yun had no intention of returning.

She headed straight for Jiuchen Palace.

Everyone thought she was anxious; after all, the newcomers weren't lacking, and she didn't have children, unlike Yi Shunrong, whose position was secure.

But Ye Yun didn't care what others thought; she was only concerned with what the Emperor thought.

As one of the long-favored consorts, she had to solidify her position and charm her benefactor.

When she arrived, Ning Chen had just finished court and hadn't changed out of his dragon robe yet.

Ye Yun entered, greeted him first, and then her bright eyes roamed over him.

"Your Majesty looks truly majestic and extraordinary in this attire."

"Complimenting me as soon as you come in; what bad intentions do you have?"

Ning Chen smiled at her and waved for her to come closer.

Yuan Jiu, standing to the side, tactfully made space for her.

"Does Your Majesty always think I'm that bad?" Ye Yun pouted playfully at him.

However, her hands were quick to help him loosen his belt, remove the heavy outer robe, and retrieve his regular clothes from the rack, wrapping around to change him.

"I just came to see how things were; with newcomers in the palace, I wondered if Your Majesty had forgotten about me."

As she spoke, she smoothed out the wrinkles on his collar, raising her head to glance at him.

Their eyes met; her gaze was like a tease, yet it held a hint of cunning.

It was as if she knew Ning Chen would never forget her, yet she still wanted to ask.

This expression amused Ning Chen; he raised his arm and firmly pulled her into his embrace.

"If I forgot you, you would surely tear down this Jiuchen Palace."

"Since the Emperor knows, please don't forget."

Ye Yun flashed a flirtatious smile, raising a finger to lightly trace circles on the man's chest through his outer robe.

The sensation was both ticklish and numbing, making Ning Chen's breathing grow heavier.

But this wasn't a time for recklessness; he had to hold back and remove her mischievous hand.

He led her to sit down on the couch by the window.

Yuan Jiu, waiting outside, sneaked a glance in and quickly motioned for a little palace maid to come in with tea and snacks.
