NEW LIFE

I feel like death is all I want right now. I have lost everything in my life. I was lost in thought while walking and did not realize I was about to walk right in front of a car. Then I woke up. "Where am I?" I asked myself. Maybe my near-death experience was just a dream. I went downstairs with that thought, and everything looked like it was from a cartoon show. When I looked outside, I saw people in superhero outfits. "What's going on?" I asked, feeling puzzled. I returned to my room to change and found a note on the kitchen table reminding me I needed to attend my new school. I thought, "OK, I guess I'm going to school then."

As I stepped into the office of my new school, a world of unfamiliar sights and sounds enveloped me. The walls were adorned with vibrant posters and trophies gleamed in the sunlight streaming through the windows. My heart raced as I approached the principal, who sat behind a polished wooden desk, an air of authority surrounding him. He greeted me with a warm smile, handed me my schedule, and informed me that someone would be there to show me around the school.

Just then, a boy with striking reddish-orange hair entered the room, his demeanor shy yet friendly. "Please come with me," he said, his voice soft but inviting. I gave the principal a grateful nod and followed the boy out into the bustling hallway, the sounds of students chatting and lockers slamming filling the air.

As we walked to my first class, I learned that his name was Nathaniel. He appeared a bit reserved, glancing around as if he were accustomed to being more in the background. I tried to break the ice by asking his name, and his face brightened as he replied, "Oh, it's nice to meet you, Y/N." I felt a flutter of hope and told him I hoped we could become good friends. He smiled shyly and said, "I would like to be your friend, too."

When we finally entered the classroom, the teacher greeted us with a warm welcome, her voice cheerful amidst the sea of eager faces. I felt a wave of shyness wash over me as I noticed everyone's eyes on me, their curious expressions making my heart pound. Seeking comfort, I slid into a seat at the back next to Nathaniel, grateful for his quiet company.

Throughout the day, I battled a mix of excitement and anxiety, wondering what the next day might hold as I made my way home, my mind racing with possibilities.
