"Everything falls into place 'cause you're right here with me
Without your love, I'm nothing, you mean more than you know
And words escape me whenever you're close"Jiwon stood before him, her hesitant whisper piercing the tension: "Hi..." Her eyes darted to his rigid form, taking in his disheveled hair and red-rimmed eyes. Her gaze dropped to the broken glass pot, and she gasped.
Her eyes lingered on the shattered glass, concern etched on her face. "Eunseok are you okay?" she asked softly, her voice gentle as she took a cautious step forward.
Eunseok stood frozen, his mind reeling with the simplicity of Jiwon's question. Was he okay? The answer seemed obvious - no, he wasn't. But articulating his emotions proved daunting. His thoughts swirled in chaos as Jiwon moved closer, her concern etched on her face.
And he instinctively stepped back, the glass shards piercing his legs and palms, Jiwon's gasp filled the air. "Don't move back," she commanded softly, her voice infused with urgency. Eunseok's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes welling up with unshed tears.
"What's wrong, Eun?"
And that shattered his defenses. The familiarity of his pet name, unused for years, struck a chord deep within him. His heart jolted, and the pain he'd endured for so long surged to the surface. The softness in Jiwon's voice unraveled him, exposing the anguish he'd kept hidden. Tears pricked at the corners of his eyes as he struggled to contain his emotions. Eunseok's rigid posture began to falter, his vulnerability seeping through the cracks.
Jiwon's heart shattered at the sight before her. She had never seen Eunseok so vulnerable, his defenses stripped away, revealing the depth of his pain. His brokenness tugged at her heartstrings, awakening a fierce protectiveness within her.
Without hesitation, Jiwon's arms enveloped Eunseok in a heartwarming hug. Her one hand wrapped gently around his back, while the other softly brushed against his head as she tiptoed to match his height. Initially, Eunseok flinched at the sudden gesture, but as his own arms supported her weight, he relaxed into the embrace.
"It's okay," Jiwon murmured softly, her voice a soothing balm to his frayed emotions. "It's okay to cry and talk about it," she repeated, her words dripping with compassion.
As his face buried in the crook of her neck, she felt his tension dissipate, replaced by ragged breaths. His arms tightened around her, holding on as if she were his lifeline. Tears he'd long suppressed began to fall, streaming down his face as he surrendered to the safety of her embrace.
Jiwon's hold on him strengthened, her heart overflowing with empathy. In this moment, she knew she'd do anything to shield him from pain, to help him heal.
"My mom" he mumbled, his voice barely audible. "She isn't leaving me, even after she died." Jiwon's breath hitched as the weight of his words settled in. The pain and longing in his voice were palpable, revealing the depth of his emotional scars.
"And I don't know if I even deserve anyone" he continued, his words dripping with self-doubt. Jiwon's heart clenched, her compassion for him overflowing. She slowly stood up, her feet grounding her as she prepared to offer comfort.
"You deserve so much, Eun" she spoke softly, her voice infused with conviction. Her hands gently framed his face, her thumbs tracing the contours of his cheeks. "You deserve love, care, and happiness. You deserve to be free from the pain of your past"
