Note to readers: *English is not really my first language so if there are any grammatical errors, kindly tell me. Also this is my first time writing such story and maybe I lack certain things but I hope you enjoy the short story that I have prepared for you.
"----- wants to follow you". I saw the notification wondering who it was. We both had mutuals connection. It was a classmate whom I didn't know, an unfamiliar person. Still, I followed him back because well after all we are sharing 2 years together in college.
We didn't talk. No one really started the chat. Neither in the class nor online. Still, I saw his stories, his posts, the comments he made. His post was all sunshine and dreamy. He would post how he went to eat food, hangout with friends, his interests such as singing and playing musical instruments. He would make a congratulations post. It was like I knew about his overall life. Unlike mine which shows "0 posts". His was interesting to look at.
He would add stories of some daily motivation type of reels. I began seeing them every day. Sometimes it was all like jokes and sometimes it would be all serious motivation. Without knowing I was looking forward to his stories.
Soon I began noticing him in the class. He always sat in the first bench so naturally my eyes started following him as I was in the fourth bench, 2 steps behind him. I remember how he talked. All laugh, living in his own world, enjoying the present moment. He was the type of person who would become group leaders in the project, whom everyone trusts. I still remember the day when every person in the class voted him to be the most reliable person.
It was his first time experiencing college life too just like mine, yet he appears as if he knows everything. As if he knows how to handle certain situations. Sometimes I wanted to be just like him.
Yet we still haven't spoken a single time. He was living his own life and me mine. Even though we were friends online, we didn't talk. I was not even in his chat lists. His chats had 12+ messages while mine was 4 or 3 depending on the situations. And I never have the guts to chat first. I am what you call an unsociable person. I really don't know how to interact with people.
While I was drowning in my thoughts, suddenly, I got a notification. I wondered who texted me late this night. All I had in my chat list were my mom and dad, but they rarely text me and usually call me though and others were my few friends but now we really don't talk much as we have drifted apart after high school. So, I opened my phone to see who I got the notification from.
