Most of Easy Company was enjoying their day on the beach. Mariah was on Joe's shoulders while Luz was on Bulls. Both were trying to push the other off. "YOU'RE GOING DOWN COMPTON!"

"IN YOUR DREAMS LUZ!"

Joe and Bull moved forward, as soon as they got close Mariah and Luz grabbed each other's shoulders. Both began putting all of their weight on the other. He was small but damn it Luz was strong; she was losing the fight quickly.

"Come on love, you can do this!" Joe yelled from underneath her.

"I don't think I can!" Mariah yelled back.

"YES, YOU CA-" As he was about to finish his sentence Mariah fell off his shoulders and into the water. "Guess you couldn't do it." Joe said as Mariah surfaced.

Mariah narrowed her eyes. "I hate you."

He laughed and winked at her.

"Round two?" Luz asked.

"You're on!"

That afternoon the three companies were sitting in a room watching footage of the war in the Pacific. Mariah remembered when her brother David came home, he wasn't the same man he was when he left. Physically he was thinner; his once full cheeks were hollow, his eyes sunken in, his body covered in scars and he was missing his left leg just underneath the knee.

Mentally he was ruined. The first few days home he didn't talk, barely ate, and sat on the porch looking out into the fields. During the night he would thrash, scream, and cry. Their father knew what he was going through and tried his best to be there for his son.

Unfortunately, two weeks after David came home, Mariah was called off for training. From letters she's received from her parents and her brother Alvin, David seems to be doing a lot better.

Mariah and her siblings never understood what their father or David went through, but with her siblings except one being in active war zones they were all going to know what they felt.

"Hey, you doing okay?" Malarkey asked.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I was just thinking about my brother."

"Right, he was over there. How is he?"

"Better. Being back on the farm and taking care of the animals and crops has helped him a lot." Mariah said.

"That's good to hear."

The video ended and everyone stood. At the back of the room Winters, Nixon, and Spiers stood.

"Are we gonna tell them right away?" Mariah heard Spiers say as she passed him. She decided to stay back to listen.

"Some of them will have enough points to go home."

Mariah listened to the rest of the conversation, it was clear a lot of them weren't going home anytime soon.
