Reunion

A/N: Takes place in between "Scrapheap" and "Con Job"

There was a great relief after the infestation of the scraplets and the return of the Autobot's leader Optimus Prime and hand-to-hand combat master Arcee from freezing to death in the Arctic. The Autobot human allies, Jack, Miko, and Rafael did what they could to help their Autobot friends under Ratchet's instruction. After some time the Autobots who the Scraplets injured just needed to rest and recover. While Arcee and Optimus still needed to go through the defrost process. So the children went home not to worry their parents. About 30 minutes went by in calm silence, with only ratchets medical equipment hooked to the bots making the only noise. But it didn't last any longer when the main computer began flashing and sounding the alarm.

On instinct, Ratchet managed to get to his feet and limped to the main console to find out what was causing the alarm.

Ratchet: (Types on the console) Optimus, we're picking up an emergency signal from an unidentifiable source.

The Autobot leader carefully disconnected himself from the defrosting equipment and steadily walked up behind the Autobot medic; his joints still stiff from the cold.

Optimus: Can you determine the purpose of the signal?

Ratchet: (Turns to Optimus) Judging from its frequency, it appears to be an emergency beacon. (Turns back to the console) But I can not determine its true origin.

Optimus: We can not ignore a potential call for help.

Bulkhead: With all due respect Optimus, I don't think any of us are ready to go investigate a signal.

Bulkhead wasn't wrong, he, Bumblebee, and Ratchet still needed to fully recover from their scraplet wounds.

Optimus: I understand Bulkhead, which is why me and Arcee shall investigate.

Ratchet (Turns to Optimus): Optimus, I must protest. You and Arcee have yet to fully recover yourselves!

Optimus (Sees Arcee get up then turns to Ratchet): I am well aware Ratchet, but an autobot might be in danger and Arcee and I are the only ones capable of lending an aid.

Arcee: (Stretches some of her limbs as she walks next to Optimus) As much as I'd rather not fight with half-frozen limbs. You've got a point Optimus.

Realizing he couldn't talk his old friend out of this mission. Ratchet limped to the groundbridge controls and put in the coordinates for the signal.

Ratchet: (Activates the Groundbridge then turns to Optimus and Arcee) Take care the both of you, You still haven't regained your full range of movement. If the decepticons also picked up the same signal then you won't fair as easily as you could normally.

Optimus: Understood, we shall remain vigilant. Arcee.

Arcee: (nods)

Optimus and Arcee walked through the groundbridge to their destination in a forest. When they arrive they at first see nothing. However, Optimus used a handheld scanner to locate where the signal originated. As he and Arcee made their way, rather slowly, Arcee spoke.

Arcee: I don't want to question you Optimus, but is this the best choice? I mean, the others are still wounded from the scraplets, and you and I are still half frozen. If cons do show up we might be as good as scrap.

Optimus: Regardless of our conditions we should help any autobot who might be in jeopardy. And we will deal with the Decepticons if they do appear.

Arcee couldn't argue with Optimus' point. If an autobot was in danger they needed to help, but she also couldn't deny that this could also be a trap. But she kept that in mind. They both did. After some time walking, they found a crash site and what looked like a cybertronian escape pod and approached it to get a better examination.
