It was a normal morning; I got up early and, after breakfast, headed to school.
There was no sign that this day would be any different from previous Fridays.
As I entered the school, I went straight to my classroom.
'Why is it so empty here?' I thought to myself. 'At this time, there should already be a few people, at least the teachers.'
Walking down the corridor, I noticed a strange-looking piece of paper on the wall on my way to the classroom.
"Beware of the light, for sometimes it expands the darkness?" I read aloud quietly. "What is that supposed to mean?"
I looked around to check if someone was playing a prank, but I didn't see anyone. I continued on my way and soon reached the classroom. Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me.
"Hello," said a male voice.
I turned around and saw a middle-aged man in a suit.
"Who are you?" I asked, slightly frightened. "This is school property; unauthorized people shouldn't be here."
"You don't need to know that," the man replied as he started walking toward me. "I'll handle this quickly."
I started backing away, trying to keep my distance from him.
"Don't run," the man said. "You won't escape anyway."
Suddenly, someone grabbed the man from behind and began to choke him.
"Leave him alone," said the man holding him.
"Orders are orders," responded the restrained man, struggling to break free. But the other man held him firmly and didn't let go. I watched in confusion.
"What's going on here?" I whispered under my breath, still backing away.
"You'll find out in due time," said another voice, and then I felt a hand on my neck, followed by something warm.
I wanted to ask again what was happening, but my voice caught in my throat, and I felt very weak and drowsy.
Then, I fell asleep standing up, but someone caught me so I wouldn't collapse onto the floor.
When I woke up, I was in a room with my limbs tied up.
"Where... where... where am I?" I asked myself, looking around the nearly empty room.
"In the facility, freak," a voice answered, and when I looked in its direction, I saw a man sitting in front of me.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"You're a freak in the ODST facility," the man replied. "A place for people like you."
"But I'm not a freak," I said.
"Oh, you are," the man said, pulling something out of his pocket. "But since you don't seem to know anything, there's nothing we can learn from you."
"But what kind of freak would I be?" I asked. "I'm no different from anyone else. Practically no different."
"Not yet," the man replied. "Otherwise, you would've at least fought back."
"Do you know about werewolves?" the man asked. "They only transform during the full moon, but before that, they look completely normal."
The man then aimed what he had taken out of his pocket at me, and I realized it was a gun.
I struggled to free myself from the bindings, but it was no use.
