A salty sea breeze blew in through the open doors of the Drowning Wench in Limsa Lominsa. The air was ripe with sound of chatter, many of the tables in the alehouse taken by tipsy or full-on drunk patrons. It was just another day here.
Our trio of adventurers sat at a table away from the rowdier rabble, all three wore pondering expressions on their faces, as if they were collectively trying to solve some invisible problem.
"Well, I've got nothing," Kaede sighed as she threw her hands into the air.
Y'sila tilted her head in confusion. "What do you mean you've got nothing already? We've only been here for a few minutes!"
"She's obviously distracted by the thought of stuffing her face with a tankard of ale," Meyu said with a roll of her eyes.
Kaede leveled a thin stare at her friend. "Hmph. I'm saving that for later. What I mean is that there really isn't much to do here in Limsa that we haven't already tried. I think we've exhausted all our methods of making more gil here. We've tried working at the Bismark, we pawned off some stuff we found out in Lower La Noscea, we even finished that stupid levequest with the sahaguin!"
Y'sila shuttered, remembering the disgusting feel of being grappled by the slimy fins of the sea-people. "There has to be something else we can try before we move on from here. Surely somewhere as big as Limsa Lominsa has gil to be earned by a few adventurers!"
"Ladies, you're going about this all wrong," Meyu chided with a smirk, running her fingers through her hair. "Did you forget about my specialty? I know exactly how to wring gil out of just the right people." She pointed over to a table, where a burly roegadyn man sat with his back resting against a wall. The man looked well-to-do, with finely coiffed hair and meticulously tended clothing.
"That man right there will get us all the gil we need to keep ourselves happy for a couple weeks!" Meyu continued. "Just let me work my charm on him. I'll be back in a few with a coffer of coin, just you wait. Watch and learn~."
Kaede and Y'sila stared blankly at Meyu as she sauntered over to the man.
"Didn't she tell us the last time she tried to use her charm on someone they rolled her into a ball, flattened her with a huge jug of ale, and tossed her out a window?" Kaede asked.
"Mmhm," Y'sila nodded slowly.
Kaede shut her eyes and raised her fist in front of her face in a symbol of mock prayer. "Hopefully she'll be easy to find if she gets tossed again."
Over at the other table, Meyu slid herself into an empty seat next to the man and greeted him with a sultry look in her eyes.
"Hey there, handsome. Room for one more?"
The man looked around for a moment as if he was confused as to who was speaking to him. His eyes quickly leveled on Meyu, who sat with her elbows on the table and her head cupped in her hands, batting her eyelashes cutely at him.
"No," he said matter-of-factly.
Meyu's cute façade dropped, but only for a moment before she slid closer to him, running her fingers down his arm and offering him a wink.
"Oh, come now, don't be like that! How often does a pretty viera woman give you this much attention, hm?"
The man downed the rest of his ale and slammed his tankard down on the table, glaring at Meyu.
"Actually, I get it quite a lot considering my wife is a viera."
Meyu paled, sliding slightly back from the man and pulling her arms into her lap. "You have a w-wife?"
