Jenny’s POV

Something was wrong. It wasn’t so hard to tell. Sophia and Ian had not been in the same space with each other for about three days now and that was just too sketchy. The Sophia and Ian I knew couldn’t bear being apart from each other for more that a day. Sophia will get disoriented a bit. But now it seemed like she was the one taking the distance more seriously.

Ian was down here with Jacob and Lyanna and they were talking about something that I knew that Sophia would have loved to know if she was down here. But she wasn’t. And Ian hadn’t asked of her. Ian hadn’t gone off to call her.

I frowned. What was really going on between them? Were they having a huge fallout? Because if they were…

I swear it to God, I’ll kill him. A frown appeared on my lips and I glared at him. She died because of him and now he was having a huge fallout with her?

My frown deepened. As if he knew I was staring at him, he turned his head towards my way, looking around and then his eyes landing on mine. He raised a brow, seeing my expression and I scowled deeper at him.

He stood straight and shot a tight smile to Lyanna and Jacob, and then began walking towards me. “What’s wrong?” He asked as he got to me.

“What do you mean?” I asked, raising my brows at him too.

“You know perfectly well what I mean,” he answered, leaning against the chair and folding his arms.

“I don’t,” I answered with an even deeper frown.

“You’re been shooting glares at me since. Did I offend you or something?” He asked, confusion lacing his tone and I pursed my lips.

“Oh,” I shot him a sweet smile. “You noticed?”

“Of course I did, I’m not blind,” he answered and I rolled my eyes.

“What’s up with you and Sophia?” I demanded, deciding to go straight to the point this time.

“What do you mean?” He asked, going rigid.

“We’re all not blind, Ian. You already know that. And even if Jacob and Lyanna are blind, I’m not. What’s going on between you and my best friend?” I asked, crossing my arms.

“In what sense?” He asked and I kissed my teeth, glaring at him once again.

“Are you guys having a fall out of something?” I demanded.

“We’re not,” he answered with a shake of his head but I knew he was lying.

“Like I said earlier, I’m not blind. I know the both of you have been avoiding each other for the past few days. Why is that?” I asked, frowning.

“I believe that is strictly between she and I,” he answered, confirming my suspicion that they had some sort of issue going on.

“Is it?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. “So you do confirm that you both have issues? Why did you lie the first time?”

He remained quiet. “Look,” I continued. “I don’t really care what’s causing your issues but all I care about is that you both should sort it out. She died because of you, for God’s sake! But then, I don’t have to remind you that.”

His eyes were like glaciers of ice now as he stared at me emotionlessly. But I knew he was furious. His eyes said it all. “But what I will remind you of is that If you dare to break my best friend’s heart, I’ll be the one to end you myself. And I’m not bluffing.”

With that, I got up from the couch and stalked away from him.

I could feel their eyes on my back but I couldn’t care less. I meant what I had said. I continued stalking up the stairs then paused when I got to the front of Sophia’s room.

The door was closed but the lights were on, that was all I needed to know that she was in there and she was awake.

I knocked on the door gently and walked inside her room without waiting for her reply. She was reading a book and she raised her eyes slowly as I walked in.

Her eyes met mine, and there was no smile, no warmth there. I shivered slightly and if she was observant enough, she’d have noticed that.

“Hey,” I said quietly as I walked to her slowly. I wasn’t sure I had seen her in this state before.

“Hi,” she grumbled her reply and I gulped. Maybe I should just turn around and leave, then talk to her when she was feeling much better? Because it was clear that she currently wasn’t at this moment.

“Are you okay?” I asked. “I haven’t seen you much in the past three days,” I pointed out and she frowned at me.

“I’m good,” she answered curtly. I pressed my lips into a tight smile, not knowing what exactly to say. But I didn’t want to leave her all by herself at the same time.

“I know you and Ian have issues,” I began and her nose glared slightly. That should have been my sign to stop talking and leave, but I ignored it. “I spoke to him for –” my breath hitched as she got up and zoomed off to the door within a nanosecond, opening it and looking at me with her canine bared open for me. A threat.

Suddenly, I couldn’t breathe. “Get out,” she snarled and I remained sitting on the bed, not knowing how to approach her with her fangs bared out at me like that.

“Out. Now.” She repeated in a growl. I don’t know how my feet managed to take me out of the room but the moment I stepped out, she slammed the door on me. I blinked, and gasped, being able to breathe once again.

“gods,” I breathed out, my chest rising and falling heavily as I stared at the closed door. What did Ian do to her? What did he say to her? What caused their rift?

I stalked back down the stairs, my heart thumping wildly in my chest and my head pounding. There was anger surging through me and I wanted to break something. Or most preferably, kill someone. Ian, to be precise.

When I got to the bottom of the stairs, he was sitting in the kitchen with his focus on his laptop and my eyes narrowed and I stalked down to him.

“I don’t know what you did to her,” I growled, “But you better fix it. I don’t care how you’ll do it, but fix. It.” And with that, I stalked out of the house.
