Danny Fenton was eating cereal lazily, decidedly ignoring his mother working on a device.

See, his mom (Maddie Fenton) and his dad (Jack Fenton) were ghost hunters. And him, along with his sister (Jazz Fenton) have always been ridiculed because of it. She was clearly tired of it, based on her irritated expression as she looked at their mother.

She was holding a book on psychology, wanting to be a psychologist when she grew up and graduated college, he assumes. She was always going on and on about how it was important that he grows up with positive traits or something. Not 'freaky, wacked out ghost hunting, believing in things that aren't real' parents.

Let him tell you a secret. He knew ghosts were real. How? Because he was one. His friend Sam had convinced him to go into the non-working ghost portal in the basement. He thought it was a bad idea but she convinced him and he did. He tripped on some wires, got electrocuted (which hurt) then found out that he had... changed.

The jumpsuit had inverse colors. His hair was white. His eyes were green. He could fly, walk through walls, turn invisible, and he had a sense of when another ghost was around. It had been  a month, and he still didn't have control. He hated it.

That was how he knew ghosts were real. Because he had the powers of one.

As he went to take another bite of cereal, he missed and milk splashed on the table. Looking at his hand, he noticed that it was intangible (objects passed right through it), and panicked.

His family had no idea what had happened. They just know that one day the portal was working.

He hid his hand beneath the table, hoping nobody saw. There wa sno way he could explain a hand that phases through everything as a normal, everyday situation.

"Okay, two more days and it's done." Maddie cheered.

Jack appeared behind her with a grin. "What did you say? It's done?" Danny's father grabbed the device and held it out. "The Fenton Finder is done!" He brings it back in, then explains to his kids, "This baby uses satellites to lead you right to the ghosts."

Danny harshly swallowed. Did he forget to mention that every device they had made in the last month worked? How, you may ask? Because they keep locking onto him. They think it's defective, but he knows the truth. They are activating around him due to his powers.

"It uses what to track what?" Danny questions.

The computerized voice echos, "Welcome to the Fenton Finder. A ghost is near. Walk forward."

Danny starts walking back as his parents step closer to him, forcing him into a wall. Then it starts beeping like crazy.

"Ghost located. Thank you for using the Fenton Finder."

"What!?" Jack complains as they both hone in on the device. "That can't be right."

Danny smiles nervously as he turns invisible on accident, then upon realizing, forces himself visible. "Actually," Danny cuts in. "I need to tell you guys something."

Jazz slams her book closed. "That's not all you need, Danny." She states, and he can't help but bite his lip in nervousness. Not now, Jazz. The older girl steps in-between Danny and their parents. "You need guidance. And parents who can provide it." Jazz turns to their parents to glare.

"Sweetie, I know what we do doesn't make sense sometimes, but you're only-" Maddie starts but gets cut off by Jazz.

"Sixteen. Biologically. But psychologically I'm an adult! And I will not allow your insane obsession with ghosts-" she grabs Danny and pulls him into a crushing hug, that he tries to fight but fails, "-to pollute the mind of an impressionable young child!" Jazz pulls back and looks at her little brother. "Come, you abused, unwanted wretch." Ow, Jazz, that hurt. "I'll drive you to school." She hugs him again before dragging him along, towards the front door.
