The evening sky painted Musutafu in shades of red and orange, the last flickers of daylight stretching across the skyline. Toshinori Yagi, better known to the world as the Symbol of Peace, All Might, stood atop a towering building, watching the city below with an intensity that never seemed to fade. Despite his weakened form—his skinny, fragile-looking body masked by the once larger-than-life hero—the fire of duty still burned bright in his eyes.
But tonight, something was different.
Toshinori pressed his palm against his chest, feeling the faint pounding of his heart as he exhaled, his breath coming out in heavy clouds of mist in the cool air. His body was deteriorating faster than he wanted to admit. Each fight, each transformation into his heroic form chipped away at the time he had left. He didn't know how long he could keep this charade going, how long he could pretend to be the invincible All Might.
It wasn't just his body that was failing him, though. It was something deeper. Something he hadn't admitted to himself—something he hadn't even told her yet.
Her.
Toshinori glanced down at the phone in his pocket, Y/N's message lighting up the screen with a warmth that was both comforting and alarming: "Come home early tonight, Toshi. We need to talk."
He knew that tone. After years of marriage, he could hear her voice even through text. It was serious. Maybe too serious.
With one last look over the city he had sworn to protect, Toshinori leapt into the night, bounding from rooftop to rooftop in silence, his mind racing with thoughts of what awaited him at home. A part of him knew what this conversation might be about. He wasn't blind to the changes in Y/N's behavior recently. She'd been distant. Not cold, but... different. They had always been close, but over the past few weeks, her smiles didn't quite reach her eyes, and there was a heaviness in her voice whenever she talked about the future.
It worried him. Not because he doubted their love, but because he knew—deep down—that he hadn't been there for her. Not like he used to be.
When he finally reached the front door of their apartment, his hand trembled slightly as he reached for the key. A deep breath filled his lungs before he twisted the knob, stepping into the familiar warmth of their home. The smell of dinner drifted from the kitchen, but there was an eerie stillness in the air.
"Y/N?" he called softly, slipping out of his shoes as he stepped inside.
"In the kitchen," her voice floated back to him, calm but not without tension.
Toshinori's heart beat a little faster as he made his way to her. Y/N stood by the stove, stirring something in a pot, her back turned to him. She looked the same as always—beautiful, with her hair tucked behind her ear, her body relaxed yet stiff with purpose. But he knew her too well to believe she was at ease.
"Smells great," he said, forcing a smile as he came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. She leaned into him slightly, but her body was stiff. Not the usual warmth he was used to.
"Thanks," she replied quietly. After a pause, she turned off the stove and turned to face him. "We need to talk, Toshi."
The weight of her words hit him like a punch to the gut. He released her slowly, his hands dropping to his sides. "What is it?"
Y/N bit her lip, looking down for a moment before lifting her gaze to meet his. She seemed to be searching for the right words. There was a softness in her eyes, but behind it, Toshinori could see the hurt, the concern that had been building for weeks—maybe months.
"Toshinori," she started, her voice trembling slightly, "I've been trying to figure out how to say this for a while, but... I'm pregnant."
For a moment, time stood still. Toshinori blinked, his mind struggling to process what she had just said. Pregnant. The word echoed in his head, refusing to settle.
A rush of emotion swept through him—shock, joy, fear, all wrapped into one overwhelming sensation. His eyes widened, his throat dry as he whispered, "You... we... we're going to have a baby?"
Y/N nodded, her eyes glistening with tears she tried to hold back. "Yes, Toshi. We are."
Toshinori stared at her, his hands reaching out to cup her face, pulling her close. "Y/N, this is... this is incredible," he breathed. "I—I didn't know... I didn't even think—"
His words faltered as the reality of the situation began to sink in. A child. He was going to be a father. But almost immediately, that joy was overshadowed by the crushing weight of his responsibilities—of his reality.
How could he be a father when he barely had enough time left as All Might? His body was falling apart, his powers slipping away. The world still needed him. Could he really step away now? Could he leave behind the very thing that gave people hope—leave behind the identity that defined him?
Y/N's eyes searched his, and she could see the conflict brewing inside him. Her lips trembled, and she took a step back, creating space between them that felt like miles.
"Toshi," she whispered, her voice laced with pain, "I can't do this alone. I can't raise a child if you're out there every day, risking your life. I need you with me. We need you. I need you to stop being All Might."
The words crashed over him like cold water. Stop being All Might? He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. How could he just... stop? How could he leave the world without the Symbol of Peace when he knew the darkness that was lurking on the horizon?
"I—Y/N, I want to be there for you. For us. But the world still needs me," he tried to explain, his voice cracking under the pressure. "I'm not ready to step down yet. There's still so much to do. Villains are getting stronger. If I just... disappear, people will lose hope. Everything I've worked for—everything I've fought for—will fall apart."
Y/N's tears finally spilled over, her hands shaking as she wrapped her arms around herself. "And what about us, Toshi? What about our child? If you keep this up, one day... you won't come home. You can't do both. You can't be a father and a hero like this. Not with your body falling apart."
Her words hit him harder than any villain ever had. Toshinori staggered back, his hands clenching at his sides. She was right. He knew she was right. But the fear of stepping away, of letting go of All Might, was suffocating.
"I—" he tried, but the words caught in his throat.
Y/N shook her head, her voice quiet but firm. "If you can't choose us, Toshinori, then I'll have to make the choice for you. I'm leaving. I'll go to New York. I can't wait around, wondering if you'll ever come back, wondering if you'll even survive."
The room went silent. Her words cut through the air like a knife. Toshinori's chest ached as he watched her walk toward the hallway, her form retreating further from him. His world was unraveling, and for the first time, he wasn't sure if he could put it back together.
"Y/N, wait!" he called out, his voice desperate.
She stopped at the doorway, her back to him. "I love you, Toshinori. But I can't raise our child in constant fear. If you won't be there for us, then I have to be strong enough for both of us."
With that, she disappeared into the shadows of their home, leaving Toshinori standing in the darkness—alone, with the weight of the world and his broken heart bearing down on him.
I have been working with these two episodes for like a few weeks now but i hope you all like it and please dont hate this my first time writing one.
