I could hardly contain the excitement bubbling within me as I stepped deeper into the clearing, each step building a crescendo in my chest.

The once-raging fire that had consumed Victoria’s body had dwindled to embers, the faint scent of charred ash lingering in the air.

But I wasn’t focused on any of that.

My mind raced with thoughts of my family, of finally reuniting with those I had been forced to leave behind.

After over a century apart, my true kin were here, closer than ever, and my heart pulsed with an almost painful anticipation.

As Elijah and I continued through the forest, the Cullen family trailed cautiously behind us, too stunned to break the silence.

I could feel their eyes burning into my back, heavy with confusion and a growing sense of dread.

I knew they had questions—questions that probably piled up with each second they spent watching me interact with Elijah.

They had been drawn into a supernatural world they couldn’t comprehend, one that dwarfed their struggles and made them seem like children fumbling in the dark.

But I didn’t have the time, nor the patience, to explain.

I needed to see my family.

We emerged from the dense forest into a larger clearing, and suddenly, the sound of familiar laughter echoed through the air.

My heart skipped a beat as I caught sight of two figures standing across from us, their silhouettes unmistakable even in the dimming light.

My breath hitched. I hadn’t laid eyes on them for what felt like an eternity, but even before I saw their faces clearly, I knew. I knew exactly who they were.

“Bekah… Kol…” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion, as if speaking their names might somehow break the delicate spell of reunion.

Rebekah was the first to rush forward, her face radiant with joy, her movements as graceful and fierce as ever.

Her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders, framing her face in the way that always made her look like royalty, a queen in her own right.

She threw her arms around me without hesitation, pulling me into a fierce embrace that seemed to squeeze all the broken parts of me back together.

“Bella!” she cried, and her voice trembled slightly, betraying a depth of emotion I knew she rarely allowed herself to feel. “You’re really here. Finally.”

I squeezed her back, clinging to her as if I were anchoring myself in this reality, this moment I had dreamed of so many nights.

“Oh, Bekah,” I murmured, my voice barely a whisper, “I’ve missed you so much.”

Rebekah pulled back, her hands gripping my shoulders as she looked me over with fierce protectiveness, as if assessing every inch of me for signs of damage.

“You absolute idiot,” she said, her voice shaking, a mixture of laughter and anger. “Do you have any idea how much we’ve been waiting for you?”

I chuckled softly, brushing a stray tear from her cheek. “I know,” I admitted, feeling a pang of guilt. “I’m sorry. I had to stay away… there were too many threats, too many enemies after us. I couldn’t risk you getting dragged into my troubles.”
