Chapter 17
"Do I really need to come back home?" Connagh wondered through a phone call.
"You can come home, but if you don't want to, I understand," his father spoke. "Anyway, how long will you say in Nevada?"
"Oh, I'm not in Nevada, Dad," sagot ni Connagh sa ama. Though they don't mind about it, malaki na si Connagh and he can be responsible for himself, pero minsan ay hindi maiwasan ng magulang niya ang mag-alala ng sobra knowing he was too young for the world.
"Hm. Where are you right now? I thought you'd be in Las Vegas with Devin?"
"It's true that I'm with Devin, but just not in Vegas," he explained. He knew that telling his father about where he was would make him wonder about it, but he didn't worry much about it. "Devin flew us to Vegas, and before you could say anything, Frank, Caiden, and Harri were with us as well. We're just having fun so there's nothing you should be worried about it."
"Alright," his father responded. "Good to know that. I have to go now, but I want you to consider going back sooner to London, but just like I said, it would be okay if you can't make it."
"Sure, Dad. I'll let you know about it. Bye."
When the call ended, Connagh decided to leave the mansion just to go around the area alone. Harri was about to catch him leaving the front door, but luckily, he was able to sneak out without being seen. Wala siyang ideya kung saan siya pupunta. He just wanted to get something off of his head after his conversation with his father.
His father wouldn't call out of nowhere, but he knew for a fact that sooner after he finished college, his father would let him take over their company and he was trying to get it off his shoulders—as he believed he wouldn't be able to take over that huge responsibility over his shoulder.
He wasn't running away from the obligation, it was just he wasn't ready yet. He was too young—he believed.
He wasn't specific where he would like to go, sinabi na lamang niya sa driver na dalhin siya sa malapit na beach. He only told the driver that he would give him a call when the time has come for him to pick Connagh up from the beach. As soon as he jumped out of the car, he quickly strolled down the beach area and found a lot of people stripped on their clothes only wearing bikinis and speedos.
He looked at himself and thought he was too formal to be at the beach wearing a long-sleeved polo and slacks. He doesn't have any beach outfits to change on so he didn't bother. He only took his shoes off and held them as he walked on the sand. Napagdesisyonan na lamang niyang maglakad-lakad. He wasn't looking for anything. He only wanted to clear his head in the meantime.
Later on, as he was walking by the shore, letting the small waves reach his feet, a volleyball hit him from the back of his head. As he found who it was, unti-unting nawala ang galit sa mukha niya nang makita niya ang isang babaeng naka-two piece ang tumatakbo papunta sa kanyang direksyon.
He would admit he couldn't stop looking at her breast. It was jumping as she was making her way to his side. It seemed like she noticed the way he looked at her, pero mabilis din itong nag-apologize dahil hindi naman nito sinasadyang tamaan sa ulo si Connagh, and as a gentleman as he was, mabilis niya rin namang tinanggap ang mga apology nito na para bang wala lang nangyari. He tried to act natural and look away, but the temptation was high.
"You looked like you just got out of the office," she commented, looking at him from head to toe. "You know, this outfit doesn't seem appropriate for the beach in case you're swimming. . ."
When she was trying to reach out his collar and slide her palm on his chest, he chuckled as he knew it was true and he liked it. He wouldn't deny it.
"You should take this off," she suggested. "Do you want me to take it off?" she teased him even more.
"Su—" before he could even finish the word he was about to say, his phone rang. "One minute." He scooped his phone out of his pocket and answered the call that came from Franklin. "Hey, bro. What's up?"
"Where are you, Con?"
"Somewhere," he answered.
"Whatever. You should go back to the mansion. Someone's looking for you."
"Who?" he asked, creasing his forehead, but Franklin didn't even answer his question and quickly dropped the call. "I'm sorry, I have to go now."
"Now?"
He nodded. "Yeah. I'm sorry. . . I hope we'll meet again soon."
Before she could even say a word, he rushed back to where his driver left him off while calling him to pick him up. As soon as he saw the car waiting for him, he jumped straight in and the car went back on the road heading back to the mansion.
At the back of his mind, he was wondering if it was his father, pero imposible rin dahil kakausap lang niya kanina sa kanya. He wouldn't come to Tampa right away.
As soon as he reached the living room, he found the boys talking to the person Franklin was talking about. He froze as soon as he saw who it was.
She stood up on her feet and flaunted a smile on her face. "Hey, Con," she greeted, and he thought at that moment, his time in Tampa was over.
