Chapter Nine - Wrath Of The Stormvermin

After rescuing Jaune and Pyrrha from Lord Skrolk and the Plague Monks of Clan Pestilens, Team RWBY guided Jaune and Pyrrha to safety. As they put more distance between themselves and the Skaven of Clan Pestilens, Jaune and Pyrrha began to recover. 

Jaune: Looks like we got away from those rats. 

Pyrrha: We owe you our lives. Those Ratmen were going to....sacrifice us....

Ruby: Don't mention it. We weren't about to leave you behind for any reason. 

Weiss: Once we meet up with Ren and Nora, we should be able to continue on disabling the bells....

Suddenly, the sound of fighting was heard. Without hesitation, Team RWBY along with Jaune and Pyrrha rushed to where the sound of the fighting was heard. When they arrived, they saw Ren and Nora on the verge of being overwhelmed by a group of Stormvermin from Clan Rictus led by Tretch Craventail. 

Tretch Craventail: Kill-kill the No-Furs! 

As Tretch Craventail and the Stormvermin swarmed Ren and Nora, Team RWBY along with Jaune and Pyrrha stepped in. During the scuffle, Team RWBY along with Jaune and Pyrrha were able to push the Skaven back. 

Ren: Jaune! Pyrrha! Are you both okay?!

Jaune: We're in rough shape, but we're good. How about you? 

Nora: A lot better now that you're here! I so want to break the legs of every rat here!

Tretch Craventail: No-Fur has spirit-mood! But it won't do you good when you're dead-dead!

Tretch Craventail and his Stormvermin attacked Team RWBY and Team JNPR. During the fight, Ruby attempts to take down Tretch Craventail, but the Skaven Chieftain wraps his tail around Ruby's leg. He yanks on Ruby's leg, knocking her to the ground. Tretch attempts to bring his blades down on Ruby, but Ruby was able to block them with Crescent Rose. She then kicks the Skaven Chieftain in the face. Ruby gets back to her feet just as a Stormvermin tackles her. Pyrrha quickly steps in and knocks the Skaven away with a strike from her Akoúo̱ shield. As the fight drags on, the Stormvermin quickly corner both Team RWBY and Team JNPR. 

Weiss: They just keep coming! 

Blake: It's like there's no end to them!

Nora: Good! I'm still itching for payback! 

As Nora charged in, Yang joins her. They both land a powerful punch on one of the Stormvermin which blasts the Skaven against a wall. At the same time, Ruby turns to Weiss. 

Ruby: Ice Flower!

Twirling their weapons so they both point at the Stormvermin, Weiss creates a series of glyphs in front of the scythe's sniper barrel, and a single shot through the circles creates a dazzling spiral of energy that creates large icicles upon impact with the crazed murderer. Ruby continues to shoot as Weiss freezes the fire, and as the ice begins to freeze the Stormvermin in place. As some of the Stormvermin were taken down, Tretch Craventail attacks both Ruby and Weiss, utilizing dirty tactics to get the better of them. 

Tretch Craventail: Time to die-die! Yes-yes!

Suddenly, Jaune runs in and tackles the Skaven Chieftain. This allows Pyrrha to step in and land several strikes with her Milo Spear. Blake and Yang then step in and land several strikes on Tretch Craventail. During the scuffle, Yang kicks the Skaven Chieftain in the groin. 

Yang: Wanna fight dirty? Two can play at that game, you big ugly rat!

As Yang taunts the Skaven Chieftain of Clan Rictus, Tretch Craventail uses his tail to grab a rock with his tail and hits Yang in the back of the head, stunning her. He then throws dirt into Blake's eyes. As Tretch Craventail was about to attack Yang and Blake, Ruby steps in and lands several hits on Tretch Craventail. At this point, more Skaven from Clan Rictus began converging on their position. 

Jaune: MORE RATS INCOMING!

Weiss: We can't afford to get cornered by these rats! 

At this point, Team RWBY and Team JNPR began running away from Tretch Craventail and the Skaven of Clan Rictus. But as they ran, they could see a ladder leading to the exit. 

Ruby: UP THE LADDER!

Ruby uses her Petal Burst Semblance to fly up to to the ladder and up the manhole. She then helps the rest of Team RWBY and Team JNPR up the ladder. But as they climbed up the ladder, Tretch Craventail manages to climb up the ladder and attacks the two teams. During the scuffle, the ladder was broken. This prevented more Clan Rictus Skaven from climbing up the ladder. 

Tretch Craventail: You No-Furs gave a good chase-run! But now it's over-done! 

As Tretch Craventail attacks Ruby, he tackles Ruby to the ground. Before he could attempt to bite at Ruby's face, Yang and Nora grab Tretch and pulls him away. Ruby then hits Tretch Craventail in the face, causing him to fall down the hole. Immediately after that, they ran to a nearby dumpster and pushed it onto the manhole, covering it up. After that, the two teams took a moment to catch their breath. 

Ruby: That....that was too close. 

Weiss: It...it feels like we're getting nowhere. Those rats...those rats are everywhere!

Jaune: And we still have no idea where they came from? I mean....all of those Ratmen had to have come from somewhere.....

Ruby: We'll figure it out. We just....we just need to keep working on disabling those bells....

With that, Team RWBY and Team JNPR decided to press forward with their goal of disabling the bells. But with each encounter with the Skaven, they would be exposed to the countless horrors that the Skaven could offer.
