Chapter 38

*Steven's POV*

I froze, I froze in the middle of the pharmacy, not knowing what to do. "Lauren?!" I asked into my phone but there was no answer. In that moment, my mind went to about a million places and I suddenly took off running out of the store and to my car.

They were coming, the babies were coming. I suddenly felt another pang of worry when I realized it was a month early. I hear the buzz of my phone and quickly fumbled around for it, trying not to take my eyes off the road.

"Hello?" I said into the phone.

"Hello, is this Steven Yeun?" The woman on the phone asked.

"Yes this is him."

"My name is Charlotte and I am calling from the hospital. Your wife has gone into labor and wished for me to call you," she explained to me, making me stress more even though it wasn't any new information.

"Thank you very much ma'am. I'm on my way to the hospital right now," I said, trying to drive as fast as I could.

"You're welcome. I will make sure to tell Lauren you are on your way," she said.

"Thank you." With that she hung up and I tossed my phone onto the passenger seat.

*Lauren's POV*

I tried to keep calm as I waited in a hospital room in complete pain. Then, two women came in wearing white hospital coats. "Hello Lauren, I'm Doctor Maguire and this is my assistant Doctor Charlotte. It seems that you are progressing very quickly so very soon we will have to start the process."

"No!" I quickly said, holding my stomach. "I can't do this without my husband!"

"We can give him a call right now if you would like," the lady replied.

"Okay, yes, thank you." I have her Steven's number and she handed it to Charlotte.

"Lauren you have to push now!" Charlotte said.

I refused to push as even more pain took over me. "I can't, I won't! I have to wait for him!"

"Lauren, you can't wait any longer," Doctor Maguire told me. "You are already fully dilated and if you want your babies to survive."

Then all of a sudden, three other doctors came in with Steven rushing in behind them. "Lauren!" He came over and I reached out for him to take, which he quickly did. "Lauren, you can do this, I know you can, babe. I know it'll be hard but just think, soon we will have our perfect babies."

All I could do was nod and Steven pressed his lips onto mine quickly before I said, "I'm ready."

"Okay Lauren, I want you to relax and take somewhat quick breaths through your mouth." I nodded and squeezed Steven's hand as tight as I could. "Now push!"

*Steven's POV*

I felt so useless during the whole thing. All I could do was sit there and hold Lauren's hand as I tried to comfort her. Every scream that she let out made me want to make it all stop. I kept staring into her eyes which told me how painful it was.

Suddenly, there was a little baby's cry. I stood up from my chair, glancing over to see one of the doctors cutting the umbilical cord on a baby, my baby. "Steven, would you like to hold your son?" I nodded and took my baby boy in my arms.

"Hey there, Caiden."

••Flashback••

"Steven, come here," Lauren said, looking down at her big stomach. I walked over and she took my hand and put it on her baby bump. "Do you feel that?" It was like there was a lump sticking out of Lauren's stomach.

"What is that? One of their butts?" I joked, making Lauren laugh.

"We really need to decide on their names," she told me and I nodded slightly. "Since we have been fighting about the names, I decided that you get to pick the name for the boy and the middle name for the girl, and I get to pick the name for the girl and the middle name for the boy."

"And you decided this all on your own?" I chuckled.

"I'm the one carrying your babies around for nine months, so deal with it." I contained my laughter as she spoke. "So what's it gonna be?"

"I want our boy to be named Caiden," I said. "What about the girl?"

Lauren smiled. "I talked with Emmie a while ago, and she hoed me decide on Cleo, and I already know that I want Caiden's middle name to be Je, after your dad." I gently kissed her lips with a grin. "So what about Cleo's middle name?"

"I don't know why, I just like Michelle."

"Caiden Je Yeun and Cleo Michelle Yeun," she confirmed.

"It's perfect, they're perfect."

••Flashback over••

It was only a few minutes later until baby Cleo was born. As the doctors cut Cleo's umbilical cord, I handed Cauden to Lauren who immediately started crying tears of joy, making me cry as well. "I love you, I love you so much baby boy," she said to Caiden.

I looked over at Cleo who was surrounded by doctors who circled around her. All I could hear were her heartbreaking cries as Charlotte and a few others headed for the door, taking my little girl with them.

"Where's Cleo?" Lauren asked, looking around when she noticed Cleo being taken away. "Where are they going? Why can't I see her?! Why can't I see my baby?! Just let me see her!" I didn't know what to do until Lauren said, "Steven, go with them! You can't leave her alone with them!"

I nodded, rushing out into the hallway until someone held me back. "I'm sorry sir, but you can't go in there."

"I have to. That's my baby they've taken away!" I yelled at the man.

"They need their space," he replied calmly.

"Why?!"

"Your baby's heart is failing!"
