Don't forget to like, comment and follow

I fought back a yawn that nearly slipped out and sank deeper into the chair. I watched the trio before me with mild disinterest.

Why they bother calling me for these discussions about the babies, I have no idea and, it is beyond me. It's clear they don't appreciate and care my input. Every time I offer a suggestion, they glare at me like I've asked for something outrageous like their kidney. So, I usually just sit quietly, and endure their endless debates.

At least my babies are loved. They already adore them, and I know they're going to be spoiled rotten.

'My babies.' The thought still feels so strange and unfit.

The door opened, and suddenly interrupted everything. The room's atmosphere shifted. We all turned to see Edward strode in, dressed in formal attire. He looked ready to leave, and I couldn't help but wonder where he could possibly be headed at this hour; already past eight in the evening.

I was still pondering when he turned his gaze toward me, and our eyes locked. The intensity in his stare always sparked a heat that simmered deep beneath my skin.

A month had passed since the faithful day. The door to the secret room had been shut automatically when the office door opened. The room must have been soundproof or else we would have been caught because, despite my attempts to stay quiet, I hadn't succeeded. Edward had made sure of that, relentless in his efforts to draw every scream from me.

He hadn't cared if his true love caught him with his false wife. The risk of being caught seemed to thrill him. Since then, I've become his little dirty secret.

"Edward, sweetheart, you're just in time! We were just picking things out for the babies," Ruby chirped, her smile bright.

"Yes, sweetheart, come help! These two are ganging up on me," Faith added with a pout.

Edward totally dismissed their remarks, not even offering a glance. Instead, he walked over to me, and he dropped a package in his hand into my lap. A dress, from what it seems.

Furrowing my brows, I looked up at him, silently questioning.

"Be ready by ten," he commanded.

I wanted to ask where we were going but decided against it. I simply nodded.

The air grew thick with tension until Ruby broke the silence. "Where are you taking her? Why her? Take our Faith with you."

Ruby's words seemed to have struck a nerve. A sneer twisted Edward's lips as he turned to face her.

"And who are you to tell me who I should take?" he replied, his tone sharp and dismissive.

Edward despises it when anyone questions his choices, although he's quick to impose his wishes on others.

Ruby surprisingly didn't seem to back down and opened her mouth but before she could utter a word Eliza reached out, placing a hand on her mother's shoulder, a silent plea to drop the matter. Ruby glanced at her daughter, and Eliza gave a subtle shake of her head, urging her mother to back down.

Understanding flashed in Ruby's eyes, and she gave a slight nod. Then, her gaze shifted back and met mine. Her expression cold, her stare piercing with unspoken contempt. I looked to her left and right, and the other two women were mirroring her disdainful glare.

My eyes followed the trees outside as they blurred past, merging into a green haze.

We'd been on the road for about 15 or 20 minutes, and I still had no idea where Edward was taking me. I didn't bother to ask; I knew he wouldn't tell me. But that didn't stop the curiosity burning inside me.
