Eighteen-year-old Ravi had always lived a life of quiet contentment. After his parents tragically passed away in a car accident when he was just a child, his aunt Meera became both mother and father to him. A widow without children of her own, Meera embraced the role of a single parent, pouring all her love and care into Ravi. Their bond was close-he called her "Mom" instead of aunt, and she was his guiding light.Ravi had just completed his HSC exams, and with a long vacation stretching before him, he found himself with little to do. Most of his friends were busy with family trips or part-time jobs, while Ravi spent his time at home or helping Meera at her newly opened clinic. A doctor by profession, Meera had recently left her government hospital job to open a private clinic in their town. With advanced equipment and affordable services, the clinic quickly gained popularity among locals.
However, the increasing number of patients meant more work, and Meera found herself facing issues with her nursing staff. Complaints about night shifts and heavy workloads became common, and finding replacement nurses on short notice was proving difficult.
One afternoon, while Ravi was visiting the clinic, he found Meera sitting alone in her cabin, her face creased with worry. Sensing her tension, Ravi asked what was troubling her.
Meera sighed and said, "The staff, Ravi. They're overwhelmed. We've been seeing more patients than we can handle, and the nurses are threatening to quit over the night shifts. I don't know what to do. I can't afford to hire more help right now, and I don't want to lose the staff I already have."
Ravi, always the one to lighten the mood, jokingly replied, "Well, maybe I can help. I could put on a nurse's uniform and help you out!"
To his surprise, Meera didn't laugh. Instead, she looked at him thoughtfully. "Actually, that's not a bad idea," she said slowly. Ravi blinked, confused.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"You have a gentle nature, Ravi," Meera explained. "You've always been good with people. You're patient, caring, and-well, you do have some feminine traits. You could easily pass as a nurse. It would only be for a week, just until I manage to sort out the staffing issues. It would help me out tremendously."
Ravi's eyes widened. The idea seemed absurd. He hadn't expected Meera to take his joke seriously. The thought of dressing up as a nurse, pretending to be one, was something he hadn't even considered. His mind swirled with confusion and doubt.
"I... I don't know, Mom. I need some time to think about it," he replied.
Meera nodded understandingly. "Take your time, Ravi. I wouldn't ask this of you if I wasn't in a tough spot. But please, let me know soon. I'm running out of options."
