LOVE IN SILENCE

"Does my love seem like a joke to you? Do you think it's a lie? Why don't you believe me?"

Today, his patience had finally run out, and he was compelled to ask these questions.

"Now speak, why aren't you answering? Why do you stay away from me? Speak, answer me!"

"Because I am afraid of rejection. I've already endured that pain once, and now I don't have the strength to go through it again."

Mahad had been searching the whole house for Hadeed for quite some time, but perhaps he hadn't returned from the office yet. Aaliya was sitting on the couch, painting her nails.

"Aunty, where is Dad?"
Mahad asked Aaliya. In response, she slapped his delicate cheek forcefully. The slap was so hard that Mahad fell to the ground, and his lip slightly split.

"Can't you see I'm busy? And why are you looking for Hadeed? Huh? Why don't you and your mother just leave him alone? How long will you two keep coming between me and him?"
After venting her frustration on the innocent boy, she calmly walked to her room.

Mahad, sobbing, got up and ran toward the front door.

Maham was cooking in the kitchen when she heard someone knocking on the door. Someone was persistently knocking. She turned down the stove and went to answer it.

When she opened the door and saw Mahad standing there alone, crying, she became worried.

"Mahad!"
At her call, Mahad lifted his head, and, still crying, he hugged her tightly and began sobbing even harder.

Seeing him cry like this and show up unexpectedly alarmed Maham.

"Mahad, my child, what are you doing here at this time? And who did you come with?"
She asked as she gently pushed him back to wipe his tears.

"Mama... I... I came alone. M... M... Mama, I want to stay with you. Nobody there loves me."
Mahad stammered, still in tears. Suddenly, Maham noticed his split lip.

"How did you get this injury?"
"Mama, Aaliya aunty hit me. Mama, I want to stay with you; I don't want to go back!"

With that, he broke down and cried harder, clinging to Maham. Hearing this, Maham felt dizzy with shock.

She took Mahad to a room, trying to distract him with cartoons, but he was so scared that he refused to leave her side. After a while, she managed to calm him down and reassured him that she would not leave him.
