Xu Zhen galloped on horseback, racing toward the Li family's camp. As she approached, the soldiers of the Li family were instantly on alert. A shout rang out, and arrows flew, with a hundred swords pointed directly at her.

A fierce wind arose, shaking the earth and sky.

Xu Zhen, breathless from her ride, spotted Li Sanlang in the distance and called out, "Li Sanlang! I'm here with urgent business!"

Li Sanlang stood at the entrance of the military tent.

His face was stern, and two years of growth had made him tall and imposing, standing with a sword that commanded respect without anger.

Someone nearby was about to release an arrow.

Li Sanlang shouted, "Hold your fire!"

Xu Zhen reined in her horse, her heart racing, and shouted directly, "Li Sanlang, I need to speak with your grandmother!"

The archers, obeying Li Sanlang, lowered their bows.

Yet, Li Sanlang drew a longsword, holding it as he stood at the tent entrance, still looking very serious. Xu Zhen remembered she was still in disguise, quickly tearing off the mask from her face, and continued to shout, "I need to talk to your grandmother! Let me into the camp!"

Li Sanlang remained where he was.

The sky was dark, without a hint of sunlight, only the cold, cutting wind brushing against faces.

The onlookers were puzzled upon seeing Xu Zhen. Most did not recognize her, but a few who did were astonished.

Wasn't this the former Assistant Minister Xu? The sister of the blue-eyed Northern Warden? What was she doing here? Why was she helping the concubine in her conquest?

After all, as Xu Zhen approached on horseback, many clearly recognized her as the strategist who had previously commanded an army of thirty thousand, holding the Li family at bay outside Chang'an.

What had happened here?

Many awaited an answer.

So did Li Sanlang.

He couldn't understand why Xu Zhen had become part of this chaos.

Ignoring the stares, Xu Zhen dismounted and walked toward the tent, braving the fierce wind from the river as she asked, "Where is Princess Gubba? Where is your grandmother?"

Suddenly enraged, Li Sanlang thrust his sword forward at Xu Zhen, who stood her ground, calmly walking toward him, unwavering and meeting his gaze.

The sword grew closer and closer to Xu Zhen.

She stopped.

Li Sanlang stopped as well.

The sword's tip halted abruptly half a meter from Xu Zhen.

The surrounding silence was deafening, save for the rustling leaves in the wind and the sudden surge of the river's roar.

Li family soldiers, along with those in the camp, rushed over from afar, asking what had happened, but those present remained silent.

Li Sanlang's sword still pointed at Xu Zhen.

Xu Zhen frowned at him, "What do you want?"

Li Sanlang demanded, "Sir! I should be asking you, what do you want? Were you the one aiding the concubine in her conquest?"

Xu Zhen felt an urgent need, but now was not the time to rush. She tried to remain calm, saying, "It wasn't me before, but I did lead this battle. There are reasons—"
