"Why now? Why are you doing a tour now?" The interviewer asked Lizzie.
"I just... When 1989 came out I was in a very..." She hesitated. "It wasn't a good time. I wrote and released it when I did because I was desperate. I needed something to focus on because I was in such a bad place. With that, I could do an album but I couldn't have... physically ormentally done a whole tour."
"Really?" The interviewer asked quietly, cautiously, as if Lizzie was a wounded animal.
"It would have been impossible for me. Completely." She nodded. "I mean, everyone remembers the controversy surrounding 1989. 'Who is this about?' 'What happened with Marcus?' 'She's a slut.'. Everything was piling up and it was just awful. It's taken time but I'm happy now."
"It's taken me a while but I'm finally in a mental and physical place where I can do this. ...Without certain people in my life anymore."
