"Right, that's it." Lando said firmly. "We're going to the hospital."
"I'm fine." Hannah groaned, gripping onto the kitchen counter so tightly that her knuckles were turning white.
"You're terrible liar at the best of times, but this is getting ridiculous." He sighed. "You are not having our baby on the kitchen floor. If you think I'm getting stressed now, can you imagine what I'll be like if I end up having to deliver our child because you wouldn't let me take you to the hospital?"
"Lando." She groaned.
"No, I know. I know." He sighed, cutting her off. "I know you think I'm being ridiculous but if you just let me take you to the hospital I'll stop stressing and they'll have some actual drugs they can give you. Remember how good that gas and air was with Isla?"
"Lando." She groaned again, still doubled over the kitchen counter, unable to stand up straight.
"I'm going to get your bag and put it in the car and then we can carry on having this argument if you like."
"Lando." She interrupted him more urgently this time. "I think we need to go. Like now."
He almost froze at her words, brain seemingly unable to comprehend the fact that after hours of arguing with him, she was now suddenly happy to go along with what he'd wanted all along.
"Are you okay?" He stopped, hands half extended towards her as though he was expecting to have to catch her any minute.
"No I'm not fucking okay." She snapped. "Just go and get the bag and let's go. I don't want you delivering this baby on the kitchen floor any more than you do."
He scurried off and grabbed the bag and the car keys, quickly returning to help her to the car. The way she was gripping his arm as they walked slowly out of the house was definitely going to leave a bruise. He was already getting flashbacks to the way that she'd nearly broken his fingers when he'd tried to hold her hand when she was in labour with Isla.
"If there was ever a time to impress me with your fast driving, now would be it." She groaned as he helped her into the passenger seat of the car. "I should've listened to you earlier. I could've been somewhere with loads of drugs to make this hurt less."
Lando bit back the words on the tip of his tongue. Something told him that now was not the time to be saying I told you so to his wife, not if he wanted to live long enough to see the birth of his second child anyway.
"It'll be ten minutes, tops." He reassured her. "Then you can have all the drugs and it'll all be fine."
He'd said this, but actually by the time they arrived at the hospital, there was no time for any of that. They'd only just made it out of the car and into the hospital room before his son had made a very quick appearance.
"I didn't realise quite how close you actually came to having to deliver our child on the kitchen floor there." Hannah joked, head rested against Lando's shoulder as he sat on the edge of the bed, holding their baby.
"I would've been traumatised for life." He joked. "That's what you get for being so incredibly stubborn. I can't believe you waited that long to let me take you to hospital."
"In my defence, I thought it hurt a lot more last time. I thought I had time."
"You're unbelievable." Lando laughed quietly, kissing the top of her head.
"Thank god you're a fast driver." She agreed. "He's so tiny."
"He is." Lando agreed. "Can you believe Isla used to be this tiny? She's like a whole little person now, backchat and all. Seems like five minutes ago we were sat here like this with her."
"I know." Hannah agreed. "Now I've got my little mini me, and you've got yours."
"Isla's going to be my mini me too." He told her. "She was so excited when I showed her the go kart in the garage. I'm going to have my own F1 team with the two of them."
"Maybe he'll decide he wants to be a singer." Hannah joked.
"Maybe." Lando agreed.
"I hope Isla likes him." Hannah said quietly. "It's going to be really weird for her. She's never had to share us before."
"She'll be fine." Lando reassured. "She's been so excited to meet him. She must've asked me like five times yesterday when she was finally going to be a big sister. Mum said she's been so excited, she had a nightmare trying to get her to go to bed."
"To be fair every night is a nightmare trying to get her to go to bed at the minute." Hannah yawned, shifting slightly to get more comfortable as she snuggled up against Lando.
"She's got your stubborn streak. That's what that is." Lando teased. "Let's hope this little guy is a little more easy going, shall we? Or we might be in trouble."
"Oh god... we've got to contend with Isla and keep a newborn baby happy." Hannah groaned.
"We'll be fine." Lando soothed. "We're expert level at this whole parenting thing now. And it'll be me the one that's getting run ragged. You're going to go to bed and finally get some rest when we get home."
"You and I both know it's not going to work out like that. There's going to be people wanting to come and visit and-"
"Calm down." Lando told her. "I won't let anyone in until you're ready. Mum said she could take Isla back to theirs for a few days if we wanted while we got settled in. I've already told Carlos he's not welcome right now."
"Poor Carlos." Hannah laughed.
"He was literally booking a plane ticket. Wanted to be first in line to meet his new nephew." Lando joked. "I told him he might want to wait a week or two unless he wants you to murder him."
"Yeah." She agreed. "I love Carlos, but I really don't wanna see him right now."
"He's just excited." Lando laughed.
"Tell him to have a kid of his own, then we can wind his kid up, stuff them full of sugar and return them to him and he'll understand why I don't ask him to babysit more often." Hannah suggested.
"I'll maybe not say that, we might need him to babysit one day if we ever want a night to ourselves ever again."
"Oh you can forget about that." Hannah laughed. "I wasn't joking when I said you were never putting your hands on me again. I've still got a tour to do eventually."
"Maybe not right now?" Lando suggested. "But when you do, we'll all be there to watch."
"You're going to keep control of two kids on your own?" Hannah joked. "Remind me, how exactly did Isla end up on stage with me at Silverstone again?"
"I learned my lesson there." He agreed. "I'll be on it this time around."
"You don't have to worry about it right now." Hannah yawned. "I'm ready to sleep for a week."
"Get some rest." Lando said softly. "We can go home in the morning and introduce this little one to his big sister. You'll want to be awake for that."
"I love you." She mumbled sleepily, struggling to keep her eyes open. "I'm so glad we ended up together."
"Me too." He agreed.
