Anya Garcia always dreamed of being a star.
Growing up in Maaseik in the Netherlands, she worked hard all throughout her life to reach the top. All she ever wanted was the fame of being a singer: the awards and the concerts and the fans. For a time, she enjoyed it.
But then she lost him.
Beside her since childhood had been her best friend, Max Verstappen. He too dreamed of the top - though perhaps his dad more than him, who was set on living the successful motorsport life vicariously through his son - and he worked endlessly to get there.
The two of them never wanted to leave each others sides, from the moment they met on their first day of school. She went and watched his karting races, trailing behind him across the continent as he moved up the ranks; he sat in the corner of bars across their home country and watched her sing, a grin on his face. Nobody supported them more than one another.
But nothing ever lasts forever.
People change, and no one knew it better than the two of them. They got lucky, shooting up to the heights of their respective passions and gaining a name for themselves as stars. Little things about both of them changed and they grew to hate each other for it. Fame hurt both of them.
So, they cut all ties. The two of them took the time to 'focus on their careers' and promised that they would one day reconnect.
Max went onto succeed beyond what he could have dreamed of as a little kid in Holland, winning the F1 world championship and breaking records like it was nothing. He became Mad Max and people forgot he had ever known his old best friend.
Anya published some songs and reached the top of the charts in no time, her voice gracing people across the world and their playlists. Stadiums sold out and the numbers only continued to skyrocket, propelling her to a level higher than she could have ever imagined.
They were on top of the world, and all they wanted was each other.
