Xun Qianchun lay on the ground, covered in wounds, and indeed couldn’t produce ten taels of silver. When Xu Zhen spoke to her, it took a long time for her to respond. The poison hadn't completely cleared, causing her to grit her teeth, blood seeping from her mouth, presenting a pitiful sight.
Xu Zhen helped wipe the blood away.
Something didn't seem right.
She pondered for a moment and quickly opened the system's customer service to inquire, "This antidote was so expensive; is it possible it's not genuine?"
This time, the system's customer service responded with a lively, youthful voice, assuring Xu Zhen, "Of course, it's genuine! Please do not doubt the system's products."
Xu Zhen asked, "Then what's happening now?"
After a brief pause, the system's voice explained, "Report to the host! Just completed a check—bleeding occurs because the poison in her body is too strong, having damaged her internal structure. Besides detoxification, the antidote is also repairing her body functions. During this repair process, she has to endure the pain of bones being reset and flesh being separated, so she cannot be conscious."
Xu Zhen was shocked, "Her insides are damaged? Can't you repair it painlessly?!"
The system replied, "The previously obtained medicine couldn't fully cure due to the poison's strength. As for painless repair, the system's products always aim to maintain authenticity—"
Xu Zhen interrupted, "No wonder the antidote was eighty thousand points. Is this the best antidote available?"
The system, sounding a bit subdued after being interrupted, replied, "Rest assured, the eighty thousand-point antidote is indeed top-quality!"
Xu Zhen breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."
With that clarified, she ended the call with customer service.
So it was the body repairing itself, and it was painful—not that she was being ignored on purpose.
Xu Zhen smiled reassuringly.
She stopped her chatter and sat quietly beside Little Beggar, accompanying her through each painful moment.
Outside, darkness gradually fell.
Xu Zhen felt drowsy. She wanted to sleep but feared her merit points might run out, leading to her demise. So she sneakily leaned over and touched Little Beggar's lips.
Little Beggar's lips were sweet and soft.
Xu Zhen closed her eyes and lingered a while longer, telling herself: I'm saving my life here. If I don't linger, I'll run out of merit points.
Their lips touched.
Inexperienced, Xu Zhen bumped their teeth, causing her lips some pain. She decided to stay still, eyes closed, waiting for the merit points, not moving.
With her eyes closed, she didn't see Xun Qianchun open her eyes, alert, as soon as they touched.
Xun Qianchun gazed deeply, seeing this scene, her heart skipped a beat as she watched Xu Zhen's tired yet content face.
She raised her hand, intending to touch Xu Zhen's cheek, but hesitated, leaving it suspended before setting it down, ultimately not touching.
In the dim cave, shadows were almost unseen, and no one could witness her internal turmoil.
A gust of wind blew into the cave, and when Xu Zhen drowsily opened her eyes, she thought she sensed movement. But seeing no one at the entrance and knowing Little Beggar was unlikely to awaken, she dismissed it as a trick of her mind.
