"Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe in Your commandments."
Psalms 119: 66
----------
Emmanuel sat at the old wooden table, his hands buried in his hair, feeling the weight of the decision before him. The early morning sun had just begun to rise, casting a soft light through the windows of the modest house he shared with his wife, Dionisia. The kitchen was quiet except for the faint sounds of birds chirping outside, but inside, Emmanuel's heart was anything but peaceful.
Across the table, Dionisia sipped her tea, watching her husband with a mixture of love and concern. She could see the struggle in his eyes, the uncertainty that had clouded his mind for days.
"You still haven't decided, have you? "Dionisia asked softly, breaking the silence.
Emmanuel sighed, leaning back in his chair. "I don't know what to do, Nisia. The offer from the company is good. It's a promotion, more money, and a chance to move up. But it means moving to the city, leaving the church and community here."
Dionisia nodded, understanding the dilemma. Emmanuel had always been committed to their small town and their local church, where he had served as a deacon for years. They had built their life here, surrounded by people they loved and trusted. But the offer from a large company in the city promised a brighter financial future, something they couldn't easily ignore.
"Have you prayed about it? "Dionisia asked, her eyes meeting his.
"I have," Emmanuel said, running his fingers along the edge of the table. "But I still don't feel like I have the answer. I want to do what's right for us, for our future. But I also want to do what's right in God's eyes. I just don't know what that is right now."
Dionisia set her cup down and reached across the table, taking his hand in hers. "Remember what we read in Psalms last night?
Emmanuel nodded. "Yes, but what does that mean for this decision? I've been asking God for wisdom and guidance, but I still feel so uncertain."
Dionisia smiled gently. "Sometimes, wisdom isn't about getting a clear answer right away. It's about learning to trust that God is teaching us good judgment, even when things aren't obvious. You already believe in His commandments—you know what's important to God. You've spent years learning that His ways are about integrity, love, about serving others. Maybe what you're searching for is already in your heart, Emmanuel. You just need to trust that."
Emmanuel sat quietly, absorbing her words. He had always believed in living a life aligned with God's commandments, seeking wisdom and good judgment in everything he did. But this decision felt bigger than anything he had faced before. How could he know for sure what was right?
Dionisia continued, her voice steady. "We're always praying for God to teach us and to help us see clearly. But sometimes He's already given us the tools. He's already placed wisdom in our hearts through His Word, through the things we've learned about Him. What does your heart tell you, Emmanuel?"
Emmanuel closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. His mind wandered back to the years they had spent in this town, the relationships they had built, and the ways they had served the church. He thought about the children's ministry, where he had spent countless Sundays teaching the next generation about God's love. He thought about the elderly couple they visited every week, bringing them groceries and praying with them. He thought about the community that had become his family.
As he opened his eyes, a sense of peace washed over him. "I think... I think I know what God is asking me to do," he said quietly. "It's not about the money or the promotion. It's about where He's placed us and how we're meant to serve Him here. I believe He's given me the wisdom to see that."
Dionisia smiled, her heart swelling with pride for her husband. "Then that's your answer, Emmanuel. Trust that God has already taught you good judgment and knowledge. You've been living in His commandments all along."
Emmanuel squeezed her hand, feeling the weight of his decision. He wasn't choosing the easier path, but he was choosing the right one. The path that aligned with the wisdom God had placed in his heart.
A few days later, Emmanuel called the company to turn down the promotion. The decision hadn't been easy, but as the days passed, he felt more confident that he had made the right choice. He continued to serve in the church, pouring his heart into the community he loved. And though the opportunity to move to the city had passed, Emmanuel felt richer in ways that went beyond material wealth. He knew he was following the path that God had set for him, and that was worth more than any promotion.
One evening, as the sun began to set, Emmanuel and Dionisia sat together on their porch, watching the sky turn shades of pink and orange. The breeze was gentle, and the sound of children playing in the distance brought a smile to both of their faces.
"I'm proud of you," Dionisia said softly, resting her head on Emmanuel's shoulder.
"I couldn't have done it without you," Emmanuel replied, kissing her forehead. "You reminded me of what's important."
Dionisia looked up at him, her eyes shining with love. "You always knew what was important, Emmanuel. Sometimes we just need a little reminder."
Emmanuel smiled, feeling grateful for the wisdom God had given him, not only in the decisions he made but in the people He had placed in his life. God's commandments had always been a source of guidance, and now he could see clearly that the wisdom and judgment he had been seeking were already written in his heart.

dghlmnrt: We often pray for guidance, hoping for a clear sign or answer. But God's wisdom is often revealed in more subtle ways—in the principles we've learned from His Word, in the values we've lived by, and in the quiet nudges of our hearts. The key is to trust that He is teaching us good judgment and knowledge every day through the small and big decisions we make.
Strive to follow God's commandments in our daily lives. When faced with difficult choices, remember that God has already equipped us with the wisdom we need, as long as we remain faithful to His Word. Trust in the knowledge that His ways are right, and seek to align your actions with the principles He has laid out for you. In doing so, you will find peace, even in uncertainty.
Are you seeking God's wisdom in the decisions you make? And are you trusting that He is teaching you good judgment, even when the path isn't clear? Let His commandments guide you, and trust that He will lead you in the way you should go.
