Chapter 6:- A Decision to make

Rimuru's POV

"Your true power is the power over laws." Lilith's words resounded through the room. Her words were like thunder, that resonated deep inside Ciel's mind. I had already failed to understand what Lilith wanted to say, so I simply looked at Ciel who was staring wide-eyed at Lilith.

"Wait! Does that mean...? No.... But that would be...." Ciel kept muttering something as she tried to grasp the fact that Lilith had just spoken. As the corks inside Ciel's mind continued to spin faster and faster, I grabbed her shoulders from behind, bringing her out of her thoughts.

"You do know that Lilith can explain whatever you want to know? Why work up your brain so much? Lilith, could you please elaborate what you said?" I asked her, to which she nodded.

"Lady Ciel's true power lies in her nature to control the laws of this world. I do not know just how do deep her control is, but I had seen her use her powers many time. And the one that left the biggest imprint on me was when lady Ciel was dealing with another second era God. You had changed the very laws dictating his existence. He was wiped out of the world, just like that." Lilith said.

I silently looked at Ciel and she just started back at me.

"Before Lady Ciel completely awakened her powers, the world was a lawless place where the weak couldn't survive. But it changed completely once lady Ciel awakened her powers. With her powers, she was able to manipulate the world, set laws and most importantly, give a chance to the weak to become stronger. You were a Second Era God who was born during the war with the Ancient Gods. But, your powers played a major role in ending the war and solidifying our position.

Lady Ciel's powers made it such that everyone, no matter how weak or strong, had to follow a certain set of rules. Though the power becomes weaker the larger the area of influence is, that can easily be remedied by having other Gods copying the laws. The law that gave birth to mortal creatures, who could breathe, eat and move around was all because of lady Ciel. So the other Gods just copied the laws of your world, implemented them in their world and gave birth to different species.

True magicule lifeforms, though independent, were very difficult to be born naturally, so the worlds at that time used to be quite lonely. But, due to lady Ciel's powers, those changed completely. And it was not just living creatures, even space and time. The laws of physics, science, everything! They were created after millions of trial and error by you, Lady Ciel." The last part of her speech was another bomb thrown by Lilith.

I always thought that the world was unique. Every problem that could have happened had a solution. And that solution in and of itself is another problem, with its own solution. It was as if somebody was progressing his way through them. But, the concerning fact was that it was Ciel who did so. And secondly,

"Wait! If there were no laws before Mother created them, how were you guys even alive? I mean, like, when you got something, you get pushed back right? Isn't that because of physics? If that's didn't use to happen then what happened to Energy?" Shinsha asked trying to wrap her head around what Lilith had just spoken.

Though she was not wrong in questioning that, she should have bigger questions, such as how the world even started together, and how the Gods could even feel or think anything.

"Young lady, Gods are fundamentally different from mortals. Laws of space and time do not effect them. If they so wished, they could discard their mortal body which binds then them to the world, and hence the laws of the world. By doing so, they become a spiritual entity, free from all restraints of space and time. Both, Lord Rimuru and Lady Ciel, are prime examples of this." Lilith responded to Shinsha. After her reply, a deep silence fell onto the room as everyone began to contemplate on what to do.

"Why did you come here? I understand that you protected Shinsha, I am grateful for that, but why were you following her in the first place?" I ask Lilith, seeing that Ciel was deep in her thoughts.

"That is because I wanted to bring you back to our world. At first, I was thinking of coming directly to the Cardinal World, but doing so would, without a doubt, draw attention as I would not only be considered an invading force, but I would also be forced to use my own spells, which would leave my energy signature, considering Chaos Energy."

"What do you mean 'bring us back'? Ciel asked while trying to see if that really was the reason.

"It is exactly what it means. I came here to ask you to return back to your rightful position as one of the Seven surviving Chaos Lords."

"Is there a special reason why you came here right now, of all the times?" I ask. If she really wanted us to return, then she should have come earlier.

"The fact is, the Fabric of Space is twisting yet again. Though not at the same level as when you were forced to fight against the Ancient Gods, but this would, still, without a doubt cause massive destruction. Gods, who would be left without a world would be forced to find new ones, and a world like ours without a God leading them would be a prime target." Lilith said.

"A God leading them? Please! You are nearly as strong as me! You said you were a member of the Ten Blades. That means there are atleast nine more people in the same level as you. Having our not having me would make little to no difference." I spoke out my true thoughts.

"You say that only because you don't know everything milord. The Ten Blades only serve you. We have no reason to protect the worlds under your command. The Time Trio sisters are currently being held hostage, the Slime Queen is also in a deep slumber, waiting for you arrive. Apart from me, only three of the Ten Blades are present. Just is four would never be enough to hold out against them. Also, you and lady Ciel had already prepared for this." 

"Prepared?"

"Yes. Though your memories will be impossible to recover, you did tie your souls with each other, so that no matter when and where you reincarnate, you will always end up with each other. After that, you both transferred all your powers to one of the most secure places in our world. Once you recover that, you will be as strong as before, maybe even more, after all, you are already Gods."

A sudden silence fell across the room. If what she said is true, then it is better to agree to her terms. After all, why be a minor God in one of the worlds, when you can be one of the Seven strongest pillar of one side. Not only will it increase our strength, but also reduce our chances of being caught up in the crossfire. But, what about Tempest? We can't just up and away like that.

"Let us think this through. We can't just leave Tempest like this." Ciel said as she stood up.

"Dear..."
"Yes. Let's gather all the patrons and other important people before going along with a decision." I completed her sentence as I, too, stood up.

"As you wish." That's all that Lilith said.
