The next morning, ten midwives entered Furong Palace. Six of them needed to be selected to assist Ye Yun in childbirth.

Typically, four midwives would suffice, but since Ye Yun was carrying twins, two additional ones were required.

The ten stood in a row in the courtyard, and Ye Yun sat in a chair under the corridor, watching them.

"Your Highness, among these, four are from the last delivery of the Fourth Prince, and the other six were chosen by the Imperial Household Department. They all have healthy children and quite a bit of experience," Nan Zhi said softly.

Ye Yun nodded and, after scanning the group, first pointed out the four who came from the Ye residence.

Then she said, "Among the six of you, I will select two more, but I don't know your backgrounds or qualifications, so please introduce yourselves, starting from the right."

The six began to introduce themselves. All of them had experience delivering babies for various prominent families.

One of the midwives, Qu Momo, had considerable experience; she had assisted in the deliveries of both children for the side consort of Prince Ping's residence, and she was also the one who delivered Princess Jiaruo's eldest son two years ago. She was selected to stay.

After that, another experienced midwife was chosen, completing the selection. The six midwives moved into the small courtyard next to Furong Palace that same day. They were close by, ensuring they could arrive immediately when the time came.

Once the selection was finished, Ye Yun began to chat with the two maidens again, still discussing their marriage prospects.

"Did you both finalize your choices yesterday? If there's anyone you're satisfied with or dissatisfied with, let me know. After being with me for so many years, I won't treat you unfairly," she said.

"Thank you, Your Highness. You treat us the best," Nan Zhi replied with a smile.

Her lively personality led her to speak first. "I have my eyes on the young master of the Wen family. There's nothing wrong with a merchant, and he just happens to be the second son. If I marry him, I won't have to be the main wife and manage the household, so it'll be convenient to come back and serve you."

The Wen family was in the spice business; their business wasn't large, but they were decent people. The second son was delayed in marriage because he was serving in the military and hadn't been able to return home.

Last year, he fell from a horse and injured his arm, rendering him incapable of doing physical work, so he returned home and is now being arranged for marriage. His character was excellent, but he was truly someone who could hardly lift a chicken.

"That's fine, but their family is complicated. With three wives living together, that's quite a big household with twenty to thirty people. You'll need to be vigilant after marrying into it," Ye Yun advised.

It wasn't that the family members were bad, but having so many people could easily lead to trouble, so one had to be cautious.

Nan Zhi nodded with a smile. "I'll keep that in mind, Your Highness. I saw his portrait, and he's quite handsome."

"You're just focusing on looks. Well, as long as you like him, it's fine. Mother knows how to judge people so their characters wouldn't be bad" Ye Yun said with a laugh, poking Nan Zhi's forehead playfully. She then asked Hui Yue, "What about you?"

Hui Yue was two years older than Nan Zhi and tended to think more carefully.

"I think the Sun family is quite good. There are no strict rules from a mother-in-law, and the family is simple. He works in the military, which is a stable job. His dedication to his late wife over the years shows that he is a loyal person."
