We stayed at the cabin we found in the beginning. There were no roamers there for the most part. The few we did have to kill came in waves but they were no problem for us. Hazel had managed to not see a roamer and we didn't see it either or hear it. What we did see was the flesh of her neck being teared away. And what we did hear was the screams and cry's of bloody murder that came from hazel. She was buried in the yard next to the people we found too late.
We never had to find food I had my wand still and it was easy to conjure up enough food for us that it would last for a while. We all managed to never lose anything important. We have enough clothes, we have our swords and daggers. Sally even has a gun. Frank, he walked away today. It was random but we all had a idea why. He had never been the same since Hazel had died. He became quiet and he was often found by himself. We let him leave we should not have but we did. I am worried about where he will end up but I believe he will survive he is strong and he has already teared into a few roamers in his form of a tiger.
I was looking for some fire wood with Percy when we heard a twig snap. I looked up to find Percy with Riptide already out and ready to be the death of more roamers. I had my dagger in one hand and my wand in another. The wands from the wizarding world don't help fight monsters but they do help fight roamers. I looked at Percy and he nodded. We all learned how to read each other fast so if there was a problem we would be quiet but still know what to do. Percy and I slowly started walking towards the roamer in thought. Just as we were ready to attack it attacked us.
" Get away from me you biters!" The boy screamed he looked tough but it seemed like the world broke him.
" hey hey calm down and look at us ." Percy said taking over for me. I was never the leader type I would always follow but if needed it was powerful and could easily lead an army to war. I may not want to be the leader but it was just what happened they made me leader and Percy co-leader he would do most but I would make final decisions.
The blonde boy looked up at us and sighed." Your not biters." he said taking in the look of us." But you do seem decently fed do y'all have someplace to stay or some food at the least." He starts to move to us and we put our weapons back up in his face." Not the friendly type i see. I'm Cato Hadley nice to meet you." He says while sticking out his hand.
" Percy Jackson and that right there-" Percy says while pointing to me and my non sure face." Is Ella Black. I would be careful if I was you she can be feisty." He looks back to me with a face that makes Annabeth laugh and me punch him.
" Percy we can't just let him in our group so easily we need to find some questions that can prove he is trustworthy." I tell Percy who just roles his eyes.
" Fine question number one How many people have you killed?" Percy asked. I can tell from his expressions he thought this kid had killed no one but I can tell this world broke him.
" At least three." He says in a quiet voice. I can tell Percy I taken aback by this but im not.
" How many roamers or biters as you call them. have you killed?" I ask him wanting the answer.
" Well I was in a community for a while but it was not safe so I ran away yesterday. I've only killed 5 of those things. My friends Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, Annie, Joanna, clove they all stayed they said it's better than being out there and I agree but I did not want to kill anyone else. Annie found a prison and she and Finnick went to it but I don't even know if they made it." He says tears in his eyes. One thing I noticed is when he mentioned a girl named Clove he got quiet. His eyes danced. He liked her.
" Ok why did you kill the people and roamers?"I ask needing to get it out there.
" I come from a community called Woodsbury the leader a man named the Governor and his dad Governor Snow they make kids 12 all the way to 18 fight to the death with roamers around them. If you won your survived if you lost" He trailed off not wanting to be reminded of the horrors he and his friends went through.
" Ella I think he's good. Let him come with us." He lookks at me with pleading eyes. Both of them.
" Fine we'll take him back with us but after that he will find his own place. He needs food once he is healthy enough to go, he will leave. Perce you got to see where im coming from here. Right?" I ask him scared he will not like my choice.
"I understand Ella you want to keep all of us safe. and not let a few things be found out." He nods and starts walking to the camp.
I sigh in relief and start following him with Cato close behind me. As we reach the fence we slide under it with Cato looking shocked.
"Welcome to our home Cato. You best behave." I say with a laugh and keep walking. He laughs too but its unsure.
We walk into the house and Cato looks around. I know what hes thinking how did ten teenagers and one adult find such a nice place to hold up. well eight now. I understand the living room was decorated with colors Piper and annabeth thought it needed more colors. The kitchen was full of food that would not go bad I made sure of that. There were rooms that were designated for the people living in those rooms. Sally being the mom she is just stayed on the couch. Cato ran right to the food but I stopped him half way.
" I know you want food but maybe wash your hands first." We both look down at his dirt covered hands ( Me this afternoon playing volleyball on the grass)
" Ella there has been no water or power for months now what do you mean?" He asks as I turn on the sink for him and the lights above us.
" Magic. and before you yell yes its real and so are we. I am a witch I went to a school for it and everyone else here are children of gods. I myself am one too but I'm the only witch here. Don't scream you don't want to draw the roamers in." I say scared of how he will react.
" yep you all are crazy magic does not exist and not only does it not exist neither do gods." Cato says in a whisper yell. Better than I thought he would do.
" Oh really then explain how there are no dead. Running water, electricity, food. I conjure food and make it nonperishable. Im a witch. Me and my brother Nico keep the dead away. Were kids of Hades. Percy gives us water. Son of Poseidon. Will helps us have light he heals us and he's the source of music. Son of Apollo. People normally stay away, that's Piper. Daughter of Aphrodite she charmspeaks people away. Reyna and Annabeth are the brains and stratigists. Daughters of Athena and Bellona. We have a power team you can be a part of it as long as you don't freak out and you believe us." I say explaining to him. He shrunk down as he realized it is one of the only possible solutions.
" Okay I understand and I washed my hands during your speech so can I eat yet?" he asks.
