For the past few months, Y/N had been traveling along the wooded roads, encountering an assortment of strange creatures and individuals. From fierce warriors to cunning merchants, each person she met had a story to tell, broadening her understanding of the world beyond.
Weeks had passed since she had spoken to another soul, her only company being the silent trees surrounding her. "Well, I'd be damned," she muttered to herself. She scanned the area, her gaze falling upon the trees. With a swift movement of her hand, Y/N conjured her magic and gestured toward the surrounding trees, commanding the branches to lower themselves within her reach. Easily, she leaped onto one, settling into place.
Sitting high up in the branches concealed her passage, allowing her to continue her journey through the forest undetected.
As Y/N continued her journey, she suddenly came across a horrific sight - a group of elves gruesomely slaughtered by a horde of orcs. Without hesitation, she leaped down from the tree, her sword ready in her hand. In the blink of an eye, she beheaded the first orc with a single swing.
The other orcs whirled around in surprise, quickly charging at her with their weapons. Acting swiftly, she extended her hand and invoked her magic. Thorny vines exploded forth from the earth, shooting straight toward the heads of the orcs and piercing them through their foreheads, neutralizing them instantly.
The remaining orcs stood no chance against Y/N's power, falling like flies in the face of her magic. Each vine that she conjured shot from the earth with deadly accuracy, embedding itself deep within the orcs' skulls. The once-mighty beasts now lay lifeless, their blood seeping into the soil.
Y/N stared at the carnage before her, her heart pounding in her chest. The sight of the elven bodies lying on the ground, their blood staining the earth. The sound of her ragged breathing was interrupted by a weak groan. She looked down and saw a heavily wounded elfling on the ground.
The young elf lay there, unconscious and badly wounded, his small body riddled with deep gashes from the orc blades. He struggled to breathe, the pain overwhelming him.
Without a second thought, Y/N picked him up and carried him to a nearby tree, laying him down gently. As she stared at his face, taking in his youthful features and blonde hair, He appeared young, maybe no more than eight years old, yet she knew that being an elf, he was likely much older. She couldn't help but feel a strange emotion, unknown thing flashed in her eye making her frown. She shook her head to clear her thoughts and focused on the most pressing task at hand - tending to his wounds.
She pressed her hand firmly against the gaping gash on his side and channeled her magic to heal him. The magic energy surged through her hand, flowing into the elfling's wound. The young elf's breathing hitched as the spell took effect, his pain slowly fading. The wound beneath her fingers started to close, the flesh and sinew knitting back together under the enchantment.
The elfling painful expression slowly shifted to one of exhaustion. He lay there, eyes closed, his young body weary from the attack. His breathing, once labored, was now slower and more regular. He looked as if he had fallen asleep.
She exhaled, wrapping the small elfling in her cloak, securing him tightly under its warm and protective embrace. Then, she stood and surveyed the scene around her.
Grimacing at the carnage, she moved to the slain elves, her eyes scanning each one for any signs of life. She knelt to check each elf's condition, trying to find any survivors amongst the fallen.
With a heavy heart, she realized that the elfling was the only one who'd survived the brutal attack. The others had been killed, their lifeless bodies strewn around the clearing. With a solemn expression, she decided to at least honor the fallen elves and treat them with respect. She took each body, one by one, moving them to a better and more dignified place, away from the battlefield. She covered their bodies with leaves and walked back to the young elf.
