Taehyung's POV

It'd been a couple of days since I properly spoke to Jimin as he was busy at work the last few days.

However, I needed to talk to him about something that came up in my conversation with one of the younger boys.

As soon as I heard the soft click of Jimin's bedroom door after he left the bathroom, I took a breath, stepped out of my room, and approached his door.

I knocked lightly, biting my lip, my heart racing as I heard faint footsteps approaching.

The wooden door was pulled open, displaying a gorgeous male with puffy soft blonde hair that circled perfectly around his face from being blown dried and a matching set of dark and light blue striped pyjamas.

His hazelnut orbs landed on mine as I noticed his swollen pink lips from the heat of the shower.

"Come in, the others sleeping down the hall will hear you otherwise." Jimin softly mentioned before walking away from the entranceway.

I stepped inside, the door clicking shut behind me, sealing us in the cozy warmth of his room. "How was work?" I asked, watching him settle onto his neatly made bed.

"Alright, except for a baby crying." He muttered, a hint of frustration creeping into his tone.

"You work at the cinema across the road, right?" I asked as I gazed out Jimins window and looked up at the stars, mirroring my bedroom.

"Yeah, how did you know?" He stammered as I looked back over at the male.

"One of the kids told me," I simply replied.

"Can I take a seat? I promise I won't take too long." I told him after, and Jimin nodded, shuffling over on his bed to give me room to sit down beside him.

"Um, so I was told that it is Myeong's (a 6-year-old boy's) birthday is coming up," I began, and Jimin nodded attentively.

"Well, I asked Myeong what he wanted to do for his birthday, and he said he wanted to go to the cinema. But one of the girls overheard and mentioned you're not keen on them coming to your work." I stated, Jimin's eyes widened slightly.

"So you're asking for my permission?" He asked, his brow furrowing as I remained silent and nodded, studying his reaction closely.

Jimin softly sighed before he spoke, "I do not mind if it is for his birthday, I just do not want it to become a habit." Jimin explained, and I nodded.

"I understand. I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable, especially if your work is a place of peace." I replied.

"Exactly. I see so many kids each day, and I just don't want to deal with the drama from the ones I know, along with the issues from strangers." Jimin explained, and I nodded.

"I am okay with it being a once-off thing though." Jimin reassured.

"Well, that's all I really had to ask, so I'll let you get some sleep." I said, rising up from the bed.

"Wait, Taehyung," Jimin gushed out, causing me to turn back to look down at him.

"I appreciate you asking. Thank you." Jimin softly said. His words wrapped around me like a warm embrace, a smile appearing on my lips.

"You're welcome. If you were uncomfortable, I could've easily found another cinema. It wouldn't have been the end of the world." I said lightly, which brought a soft smile to his face.

"Maybe Myeong just wanted to see his favourite 20-year-old on his birthday." Jimin shot back with a cheeky smile, a playful glint forming in his eyes.

I cocked my eyebrow to his comment before speaking, "You don't wanna challenge me at that." I shot back.

Jimin stood, closing the distance between us. "And why is that?" His voice was low but gentle, sending delightful shivers throughout my body like shocks of electricity.

Our eyes locked in the dim light of the room, only two candles illuminating the space as he cocked his eyebrow.

My heart was beating out of sync as I replied, "Well, Myeong sees you probably more like a brother which you may think is in your favour but you're also likely to see a brother to be annoying," I began.

"But as his caretaker, I've given him sweets, read to him, and played games. I think I hold the upper hand." I stated.

Jimin wrapped his arms across his chest while considering my words, "That may be true, but I've spent three years with him. Time speaks to loyalty. I've shared deeper connections with him, and still given him treats." Jimin explained, my eyes watching over his lips as he spoke.

"Perhaps we should ask him to settle this." I suggested, locking eyes with Jimin once more.

"Perhaps." Jimin murmured, his gaze scanning over my face.

I turned toward the door, a whirlwind of energy coursing through me like a packet of Skittles, zinging with sugar and excitement.

"You're not going to give me another cupcake?" Jimin asked with a giggle making a boxy smile appear on my lips.

"I'd have to make more, sorry. The kids got to them after dinner." I replied as I spun around to look at the male, my hand gripping the door handle behind me to steady my racing heart.

Jimin had settled back onto his bed, sitting in a pretzel shape, his lips formed into a playful pout before breaking into a smile.

"Goodnight, Taehyung." Jimin called, his voice lingering in the air as I turned to open the door.

"Goodnight, Jimin." I replied softly, turning to leave his room before gently closing the door behind me.

I headed for my bedroom but I could still hear his soft voice singing in my head.

How I longed to hear his voice up close once more, yet I could still savour the moment prior.
