With the dwarves and Bilbo now settled in their camp, Y/N and Eladan worked diligently to clean and prepare the rabbits for the meal. When they finished, Y/N turned to Eladan and asked, "Darling, could you please start roasting up the rabbit? I need to fetch something real quick."

Eladan nodded firmly, "Certainly, my lady," he replied, turning his attention to the rabbits.

As Y/N disappeared into the woods, Eladan did his task diligently, his small fingers effortlessly spicing up the rabbits and arranging them to roast over the open fire.

Bombur, the portly dwarf, waddled over to Eladan with a friendly smile on his face. "Allow me to lend a hand, lass," he said kindly.

Eladan nodded, grateful for the assistance. "Thank you," he replied, returning the smile as he handed over the rabbits, now seasoned and ready for roasting.

Bombur took the rabbits from Eladan's hands and began placing them on the makeshift roasting spit. As he worked, he glanced up at Eladan, his eyes full of curiosity.

"You're a young one, ain't ya?" he asked, his voice booming cheerfully. Eladan nodded, silently thankful that Bombur was more interested in chattering than in eyeing his lady. Unlike a certain dwarves.

"Yes, I am," Eladan replied, his expression softening slightly at Bombur's affable nature. "Still have much to learn and experience." Bombur looked at him and asked, "The lady.. is she your mother?"

Eladan chuckled lightly at the question, amused by the assumption. "No, she's not my mother," he clarified, a hint of fondness in his voice. "She is...my mentor, my companion, my..."

He paused for a moment, contemplating whether to reveal more. But there was something genuine about Bombur that made him feel comfortable enough to continue.

"My parents... they were killed by orcs many years ago," he said quietly, his eyes distant as the memories of that dark time flared in his mind.

Bombur stopped his work on the rabbits and turned to face Eladan fully, his eyes filled with empathy. "I'm mighty sorry to hear that, laddie," he said sincerely.  The dwarf continued tending to the rabbits, checking their progress and turning them over the open flame.

Eladan nodded, touched by Bombur's empathetic response. "Thank you," he replied softly, his eyes watching the dwarf work for a moment.

There was a companionable silence between them as they continued preparing the meal together.

Eladan turned as Y/N approached, her arms carrying a basket of apples. "The rabbits are almost ready, my lady," he said as he caught her form, a sense of relief washing over him at her return. "looking great" she nodded at Eladan and bombur.

Bombur gave a satisfied grunt as he inspected the roasting rabbits. "Coming along nicely," he said. "Shouldn't be too long now."

"And I'm bringing apples for everybody," she said.

Bombur eyes lighting up at the sight of the apples, gave a hearty chuckle. "Ah, apples! Always a joy, lass, thank you."

The smell of the roasting rabbits continued to waft through the campsite, the dwarves and Bilbo gathering around, their eyes and stomachs eager for the promised meal.

Eladan watched as Y/N handed out the apples to the dwarves and Bilbo. The sight of the dwarves enjoying the simple fruit was quite a picture. One of them, Bofur, took a huge bite out of his apple, juice dribbling down his chin.

"These apples are a treat, lass," he said, his mouth full. "A rare luxury out here in the wild." she grinned at his words. "yeah I know my way," she said.
