Overprotective/More Observant/actually using his brain: Chessman

Notes:

Author's Note: This is a one-shot we have been working on for a few days now. The Muse wanted to do this scene once more but take it a different route than it was taken before, basically if the said high and mighty Captain had actually paid attention to our girl's reactions to him along with actually using his brain! They hope everyone likes the super long chapter!

And would like to say, unless it's really, really asked for, they do not plan to do a follow-up or expand on this one.

Disclaimer: The Muse would like to remind everyone we do not own FIYS nor the beloved characters nor any dialogue from either the show nor the book...the Muse is very sad and continues to sulk at this reminder.

One-Shot

Sicheng froze his raised finger as he had gone to tap Tong Yao on the head, as his anger evaporated fast with his eyes widening with sudden alarm as his Mid literally flinched back from him, squeezing her eyes shut as fear flashed over her face. He swallowed hard as something bitter tasted on the back of his tongue as his whiskey amber eyes took in everything about her, from her tensed up posture to the obvious fear she was currently feeling and showing to his lifted hand. His mind was racing as he was trying to connect the dots because in the entire time that she had been here at his base, she had never shown she was afraid...especially never of him and it was leaving him feeling sick to his stomach. Lowering his hand back to hang down at his side, he narrowed his eyes as he swept them over her form once more before he inhaled.

"Shorty...look at me." he ordered in a low soft tone, watching as she inhaled deeply before slowly raising her head back up with reopening her eyes and damn near felt like someone had punched him in the gut at the fear flickering in her deep soulful dark chocolate colored eyes. "Come with me to my office. We need to have a chat with both Ming and Rui-ge present as well as the Coach and Manager." he spoke in a soft comforting tone as she inhaled deeply before nodding her head. Turning on his heel, he made sure she was following him as he entered the base, locking his cold eyes onto both males, he motioned for them to follow him as he led all three towards his office. Debating on where Yao should sit, he eyed his desk chair before sighing and motioning her to sit in his chair so that way she had space and was not crowded by them as Rui took the chair in front of his desk as he and Ming sat on the couch.

"What's going on?" frowned Ming in concern as he noted Yao's pale parlor and how she refused to meet their eyes. He eyed Cheng as the man inhaled deeply with a colder look on his face but could see the soft concern in his eyes directed at Yao.

"Shorty, why exactly did you bite Xu Tailum, today at the arena?" He began though he silenced Rui with a dark look as the man looked alarmed and went to open mouth before he looked back at the tensed up girl. He noted how Ming had tensed up beside him but was thankful the man knew when to remain silent. "I want and need the full story from you, Tong Yao. Because, I don't think you would have reacted without just cause. So do me a favor, take a deep breath, gather your thoughts and then tell us exactly what happened today from beginning to the end, that caused you to bite him." he encouraged in a low rumbling tone as she flinched, clenching her hands against her shorts. He eyed her as she bit her bottom lip briefly before she inhaled a few times to center herself.
