It was an ordinary afternoon when the day took an unexpected turn. Valerie was in the kitchen making lunch, and Colby was out back with Xander, who was practicing some of his favorite games with his dad, full of energy as always. But then, suddenly, Xander stumbled, and his body went rigid before he collapsed.

Colby felt his heart lurch. He knelt beside Xander, calling his name, trying to bring him back. When Valerie heard the panic in Colby's voice, she dropped everything and rushed outside, her own heart pounding. She called 911, her hands trembling, and within minutes, they were on their way to the hospital.

The drive to the hospital was tense. Valerie held Xander in the backseat, whispering words of comfort as he lay limp, his breathing shallow but steady. Xavier, confused and worried, stayed with a neighbor who'd come to help, and little Victoria was safe in her arms. Valerie knew the other kids would be taken care of, but her heart ached for Xander as they sped toward the ER.

At the hospital, doctors rushed Xander in for tests. Valerie and Colby stayed close by, anxiously waiting for answers. The doctors finally came out, explaining that Xander had experienced a seizure, likely related to his autism and ADHD. They assured Colby and Valerie that they'd keep Xander overnight for observation and start him on a treatment plan that could help prevent future episodes.

That night, Colby and Valerie took turns sitting by Xander's bed, watching over him. Valerie smoothed his hair, her heart breaking for her little boy, while Colby held her hand, determined to stay strong for all of them. As Xander slowly woke up, he looked at his parents, a little confused but feeling their love surrounding him.

When they finally brought Xander home the next day, Xavier and Victoria greeted him with hugs. They stayed close to their brother, offering him the comfort he hadn't realized he needed. Though the day had been one of the most frightening for the family, it reminded them how precious each of them was to one another.
