Aiden's POV

I was driving the car while Haeun was sitting behind in the back seat.

I could see her through the rear-view mirror. She looked sad.

Anyone not familiar with her would definitely assume that she might be gazing out of the window to enjoy the beauty of this lovely day.

But at this moment, only I could understand that all she could see was darkness.

I sighed. I didn't know why, but it seemed too unfair to me. Her life shouldn't have been this way. At some point, I felt like Haeun didn't deserve all this.

Anyway, when I parked the car in the parking lot of the office building, Mr. Choi was already there to escort Haeun to her office cabin.

As they walked, I followed them. On their way, Mr. Choi informed Haeun that her new secretary was Song Yunha and she was waiting for Haeun in the cabin.

That's when I became curious to see this Yunha because I knew a Song Yunha too. She was a childhood friend of ours: me, Seojoon, and Jiyoo.

Her dad worked for our dad, and after her father's death, Yunha joined our team. Our enemy Kang had killed him.

We haven't received any kind of information about Yunha since last month. My dad said that she had gone for a new mission.

When I entered Haeun's cabin along with Haeun and Mr. Choi, I stiffened. It was Song Yunha, our friend.

I couldn't believe my eyes. While Mr. Choi introduced Yunha to Haeun as her secretary, Yunha didn't react to me and completely ignored me as if I were a stranger.

'Miss Haeun, you have a meeting with the board of directors in 10 minutes. I've prepared all the papers you will need there. We can leave when you're ready,' Yunha explained.

She was confident and I was so dumbfounded. Confused. I didn't know what was going on. I didn't see this coming, but I couldn't talk to her at that moment. I had to wait for the right time because she was on a mission, about which I had no idea.

*****

Haeun, Mr. Choi, and Yunha were inside the meeting room with others.

While I was standing outside the room in the corridor, waiting for the meeting to end, I received a notification on my phone.

As I picked up my phone from inside my pants pocket, I found a text message from Patrick, which said, 'Leo is Ahn's son. There is more to tell you. Meet me tonight at the Incheon port at 12.'

This information was unexpected. People like Ahn were basically cowards to involve their children in such a dangerous business.

After shrugging off all the extra ideas from my shoulders, I texted back to Patrick with an 'okay.'

That's when the meeting ended, and everybody started to come out of the room.

Almost everyone left, then Haeun came out with Yunha. I joined them on their way back to Haeun's cabin.

Without further delay, I wanted to talk to Yunha, but she was with Haeun the whole time.

*****

The day went smoothly without any hindrance as I dropped Haeun off at home at 9 PM and stayed there.

Standing outside Haeun's mansion against the car's door, I stared at the mansion. It looked lonely, standing all alone in the dark.

When I heard someone's footsteps behind me, I became alert and took out my gun.

As I turned back abruptly, I found Yunha standing at a distance under the dim light.

So I tucked my gun behind my back as she walked near the car.

'You here?' I asked her as I wasn't expecting her to be here.

'I've something to tell you,' Yunha declared.

'Yeah, go ahead,' I said, facing her properly.

'You looked so surprised this morning when you saw me in Haeun's cabin. So I have decided to explain everything to you. Actually, last month Uncle Kim told me to become Haeun's secretary to make sure she is safe wherever she goes. So I went to Gwangju to take training from Haeun's father's former secretary. He lives in Gwangju after Mr. Park's death. Sorry I didn't tell you guys before,' Yunha explained.

'It's okay, it's good to have a partner like you.'

I trusted Yunha; she was a fearless girl, raised to be a member of our group from the start.

'Have you seen anything suspicious?' Yunha questioned.

I thought about that day's incident, the red sedan following us from the airport. I wasn't sure about it, so I shrugged it off and answered, 'nothing.'

'Can you take care of Haeun for a while? I have to go somewhere,' I added while opening the car's door.

'Yeah, sure.'

'Thanks,' I gave her a smile and got inside the car. I could only trust Yunha with Haeun.

As I hurried out of the mansion's grounds with the car, I had to meet Patrick at 12 tonight. I couldn't be late. So I drove fast through the busy roads to reach my destination.

*****

Before 12, I reached Incheon Port and took out my phone to check for any notifications. The message box was empty.

I got out of my car to look around the area. The area was totally deserted and silent. No one was around, only piles of containers.

There wasn't much light, so I walked ahead towards the waterside, passing through the containers.

When I finally reached the waterside, a cold breeze blew, taking all my stress away.

As I stared at the calm water, its sound was soothing. I closed my eyes to feel the calm slowly fitting inside me.

Time passed by, and when I finally looked at my wristwatch, it showed 12:30.

I waited for a long time for Patrick, and he didn't show up. Was he even coming? Or did he betray me?

As soon as these kind of questions hit my head, I took my phone and dialed Patrick's number, but it didn't connect. Instead, it said his phone was switched off.

Did this mean he betrayed me?
