The Avengers’ presence at Midtown began shifting the dynamics of Peter’s school life. Though he was relieved to have Tony, Steve, Natasha, and Bruce nearby, he knew they had to keep up their cover. Any sign that the Avengers were onto Hydra’s plot would risk everything. And while Peter trusted his family, keeping his struggles hidden from his friends and maintaining a normal school day was becoming harder.

Peter’s unease only grew as the math classes continued. Mr. Voss’s harassment escalated day by day. The teacher never missed a chance to single Peter out, whether it was a late assignment or a wrong answer—anything seemed reason enough to berate him.

One day, as Peter was hurrying through his math assignment, Mr. Voss walked by his desk, stopping to loom over him. “Parker, is this all you’ve got?” he sneered, glancing at Peter’s half-completed answers. “Pathetic. I thought a ‘Stark kid’ would know better.”

Peter’s heart skipped at the mention of Tony. Mr. Voss’s comment wasn’t loud enough for the other students to hear, but the underlying threat was clear. Did he suspect Peter’s connection to Tony? Or, worse, his identity as Spider-Man?

Flash, noticing Peter’s discomfort, gave him a shove. “Didn’t realize you’d be the new punching bag, Parker,” he taunted. “Guess I’ll have some fun, too.”

Peter clenched his fists, fighting the urge to respond. He didn’t want to give Voss or Flash the satisfaction, but the weight of their bullying was starting to wear him down.

After class, Peter found himself called to the chemistry lab where Tony—Mr. Stark—was grading papers. As Peter entered, Tony looked up, his “teacher” glasses slipping down his nose.

“You alright, kid?” Tony asked, his voice low.

Peter nodded, but his tired expression betrayed him. “I’m handling it,” he muttered. “But Mr. Voss, he… he mentioned you. Almost like he knows.”

Tony’s jaw tightened. “We’re tracking him, Pete. But I want you to keep your guard up. This guy’s playing a game, and I’m not letting him mess with my kid.”

Peter managed a weak smile. Just then, Pops entered the lab with his usual clipboard, giving Peter a reassuring pat on the back.

“You doing okay, sport?” Steve asked, his expression soft.

Peter sighed. “Yeah, Pops, just… ready for this to be over.”

Tony and Steve exchanged a look. Tony straightened up, his tone determined. “Well, in that case, let’s make sure it is. No one messes with our family.”

The Avengers decided to stay close to Peter, monitoring Mr. Voss’s every move. Natasha, in her role as the PT instructor, even pulled Flash aside, warning him to keep his distance from Peter. Flash, intimidated, kept his bullying to a minimum—but Voss was harder to contain.

One afternoon, Mr. Voss assigned Peter to stay after class for extra “help.” As the other students filed out, he approached Peter’s desk, his expression unusually serious.

“I’m curious, Parker,” he began, his voice low and menacing. “Do you think you’re special?”

Peter swallowed, trying to stay calm. “I… I don’t know what you mean, sir.”

Voss leaned closer, his eyes narrowing. “You walk around like you own the place. You think just because you’re a Stark, you’re untouchable?”

The hairs on Peter’s neck stood up. “I don’t think that,” he said, his voice firm but quiet.

Mr. Voss smirked, tapping a finger on Peter’s desk. “Good. Because sooner or later, people like you always get what’s coming.”

As he left the classroom, Peter’s heart pounded in his chest. Mr. Voss’s words echoed in his mind, fueling his worry about what Hydra’s next move might be. But with Tony, Steve, and the Avengers there to protect him, he knew he wasn’t facing it alone.

And soon enough, the real fight would begin.

Peter took a steadying breath, his hand gripping the strap of his backpack. He couldn’t shake the lingering sense of unease that Mr. Voss’s words had left behind. The idea of Hydra lurking so close, hidden within his school, made his skin crawl. He tried to focus on the small comfort he felt knowing he wasn’t alone. Tony and Pops had been more vigilant than ever, and the Avengers were only a call away.

As he walked down the hall, he spotted Ned waiting by his locker, flashing a grin when he saw Peter. “Hey, dude! You look like you’ve seen a ghost. Everything okay?”

Peter tried to force a smile, but Ned’s brow furrowed as he looked closer, concern darkening his expression.

“Yeah, just a rough class with Mr. Voss,” Peter replied, shrugging. He knew he couldn’t say much, not here, not where ears could be listening. He quickly changed the subject, steering Ned toward the gym for their next class. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched.

Just as they reached the gym, a notification buzzed on his phone. He glanced down, expecting a message from Tony or Pops, but instead saw an anonymous number with a simple message: Tick tock, Parker.

His heart skipped a beat as the dread he’d felt in the classroom returned, stronger than ever.

He forced himself to calm down. Breathe, he reminded himself. Tony’s already working on security. But even with that assurance, a nagging voice whispered that this was just the beginning.

Peter’s fingers hovered over his phone screen, hesitating before he sent a quick, coded message to Tony and Steve: Possible leak at school. Need an extra eye.

He tried to shake off the anxiety as he headed into the gym with Ned, but every corner of the room seemed darker, every whisper more sinister. The walls felt like they were closing in as he made his way to the bleachers. His instincts screamed that Hydra was tightening its grip, and the warning from Mr. Voss felt heavier with each passing second.

“Hey, Peter!” MJ’s voice jolted him out of his thoughts as she slid onto the bench beside him, giving him a questioning look. “You look like you’re somewhere else.”

Peter forced a half-smile. “Just…distracted, I guess.” He wanted to tell her more, but the weight of the situation held him back. He didn’t want her or anyone else dragged into Hydra’s crosshairs.

She seemed to pick up on his reluctance, resting a hand on his shoulder. “Well, I don’t know what’s eating at you, but…you don’t have to deal with it alone, okay?”

A surge of gratitude flooded through him. He managed a genuine smile this time, and she gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

Just as he was about to respond, the gym doors swung open, and the teacher entered. Peter quickly dropped his gaze, hoping to steady his nerves. But in his peripheral vision, he noticed a familiar, unwelcome figure standing in the shadows just beyond the doorway—Mr. Voss, watching him with a cold, knowing stare.

Peter clenched his jaw, fighting the instinct to react. He had to keep calm, to stay under Hydra’s radar as much as possible. But he knew one thing for certain: this was far from over. And sooner or later, he’d have to face Hydra head-on.
