Am I Forgiven?

Chapter 20

Colton and Alexander waited outside the door for five minutes. When Colton was sure that the medicine might have worked, they barged in.

The woman was tying her bra back and was looking with disgust at the man who was now lying on top of the covers.

She looked up when they entered and a scowl took over her face.

"I shouldn't have listened to you." The woman stood up and put her jacket back on. All the time, Alex was looking at the man called Reid who had a pained expression on his face.

"What did you do to him?" Colton asked, frowning.

"He wanted to try it differently which I refused. Couldn't take a no, so knocked him out."

The woman walked upto Colton and extended her hand.

"I want double of my payment."

Colton raised an eyebrow.

"Isn't that against this club rules?"

"And what made you think that it was with the rule to make me go after such a man whom I didn't intend to have business with?"

Colton walked upto the bed, snatched out the wallet from the man's pocket and handed a hundred dollar note to the woman.

The woman took the note and smirked. She toyed with note as she looked at the man and then at Colton and raised an eyebrow.

Colton huffed and took out another hundred dollar note and tucked it into her palm.

"Not a word." Colton warned.

The woman motioned a zip on her lips with her fingers and threw the imaginary key away. She walked out of the room not before throwing a last glance at them.

Colton pursed his lips and stacked the remaining money into his pocket. It was enough to last them a month if spent carefully.

Colton and Alex picked up Reid from the covers and put him on the bedside chair. They tied him up tightly with the ropes and checked his body for any hidden weapons.

None.

"Won't he remember anything after he wakes up?"  Alex asked, folding his arms across his chest.

"I believe in the medicine." Colton answered while tying the last knot on the rope.

Alex nodded and looked at the man. A man in his early thirties, light stubble on his sharp jaw and a dense curly hair that covered his forehead. He was not heavily muscled but seemed strong enough to take down an equal opponent. A beauty that would hurt the eyes.

But Alex saw nothing but a murderer who's murder list might have the name of his wife.

And unknowingly his unborn child.

His unborn girl.

Ivan's daughter too.

Colton put a hand on his shoulder.

Alex tightened his fists. He took the glass of water from the bedside table and threw the water on his face.

The man stirred up a bit.

"Wake up!" Alex slapped him.

The man's eyebrows scrunched up as he tried to open his eyes but his eyelids were too heavy.

Another slap, now by Colton.

The man groaned as he slightly cracked open his eyes.

"Are you Reid?" Colton asked.

No answer.

"Are you Reid?" Colton asked again, with a slap.

"Fucking hell, stop slapping me. I'm Reid." The man groaned.

"Did you know Athena?" Alex asked.

"Who?"

"Athena Stone! Advocate Athena Stone!" Alex gripped his shoulders.

"That bi-" His words were cut off by another slap from Alex.

"That hands won't exist when I get free." Reid seethed in anger.

"You can't kill someone who's already dead."

"I knew that girl. She was the one who sent my men to jail." Reid gritted out.

"Did you kill her?"

"She's dead?" Reid laughed.

"Did.you.kill.her?"

"I would have been much happier if I had done that."

"YOU-"

Alex slapped him so hard that blood came out.

"FUCK YOU BASTARD." Reid yelled.

"Who killed her?" Alex gripped his collar.

"What makes you think I would say?"

"Oh you definitely would." Colton grabbed his neck and forcefully pushed a liquid down his throat.

Reid coughed. His body slumped back into the chair and his eyes closed.

They waited for a few minutes.

"Who killed Athena Stone?"

Reid mumbled something.

"What?"

No answer.

Alex grabbed his collar and jerked him.

"WHO KILLED ATHENA?"

"Marrrrr.....sssss." Reid opened his eyes for a moment and again closed his eyes.

"Answer dammit!"

"Marcus Meredi." Reid blacked out.

Alexander's face blanched as he stepped back.

"We need to put him back to bed. He would forget everything by morning." But Alex didn't move.

"What happened?" Colton asked.

"I know Marcus Meredi."
