The Temporary Goodbye
After holding myself back, it was my time to complain.
"You didn't give me kisses.", I stated. "I need them on both cheeks.", I insisted, presenting my left cheek towards you.
You cupped my face and planted breathtaking kisses. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Multiple kisses. Multiple kisses painted my face, making me feel my heart thump at a high pace in my stomach.
I doubted that was because of my hunger but having considered that I had a proper meal this afternoon, the thought became debatable.
Realizing that it wasn't due to hunger but rather the impact you have on me, I found myself wandering through realms of the garden of love- My lady. My love. Fine and only mine.
I slightly turned my face, giving you access to my right cheek. You showered the other side of my face with your kisses without hesitating.
Where else?", your soft voice asked, taking me by surprise. Your gentle treatment, cherishing me like a child, pampered me in ways others thought I'd outgrown. Yet, with you, I felt blessed.
Every moment with you made me feel special, different.
I couldn't contain the overwhelming happiness swelling in my heart, realizing I was finally receiving the kisses I'd longed for, for years. You lavished me with them, finally.
"Here.", I said. "On the forehead."
Your lips joined with the skin of my forehead, planting a kiss."Where else, darling?" your melodic voice inquired, melting my heart.
"Anywhere you like.", I responded, begging you to let slip your shyness.
You looked at me in the eyes.
And, that's when we realised that our lips were merely inches apart while our warm breaths continued to intermix.
Upon hearing my response, you laid your head on the bed again, shy to do the honour. However, your new position didn't help our distance. It was still the same.
I was gazing into your eyes; you were staring at me. Your eyes held care, admiration and possession while my eyes shone with passion, longing and desperation. An emotion common in both of our eyes was our love for each other.
Before any of us could say anything, a phone call disturbed our moment.
My forehead creased as a surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins, intensifying the stress and pressure. Oh God, I thought, only I knew the repercussions of anyone else knowing about our secret hotel date.
I immediately sat up and checked my phone.
A missed call from my mother.
I glanced at the time – 6 pm. Gazing out the window, I realized the day had slipped away, dawn nearly turning to night.
My mother had planned engagement shopping for today, and I was supposed to join her. But I had no convincing excuse to offer, trapping me in the situation.
I lied to her, saying I was heading to a friend's house. I knew she had never approved our secret date.
With our wedding just months away, our parents thought we should restrain our passion. They feared we'd give in to temptation, and I'd... But I knew their worries were baseless.
I sighed, putting my phone back on the bedside table and laying in your arms again. Snuggling my face in the crook of your neck, I inhaled your fragrance for the last time.
"I need to go now.", I declared.
You sat up abruptly, and my head fell onto the soft mattress with a gentle thud. Ouch, I thought, the unexpected jolt— a harsh reminder of your frustration.
I sat up too, meeting your gaze.
"Why?", your ached voice asked, longing for my closeness. I was well aware that you didn't want to leave me, having me after years. I didn't want to leave either, but I still had to.
"I told you. I won't be able to stay for long. Mum needs to do the engagement shopping.", I stated, concealing my ache.
"Stay," you urged, grasping my hand.
Three gentle kisses on your hand. "I wish to stay as well."
"Please, stay," you plead.
"I cannot, my lady," my voice replied, filled with helplessness.
"I don't want you to go.", you said, taking my hands in your gentle grip and kissing my knuckles.
"I must.", I declared, pressing closer to your chest. Arching my back, I nestled into your arms once more.
Your hand moved to my back, and you gave it a gentle pat.
"Absolutely, no!", you replied.
"Let's stay for a while.", I said, settling into your hold.
I gazed outside from your hold, focusing on your face.
My lips naturally found their way to your jaw, pressing your skin between them.
You pulled away from me, detaching yourself from me once more.
