Lunaris: A city that awakens at night, where the secrets of the moon dwell. Many wouldn’t dare to visit, for those born within its shadowy streets are bound to it for life, unable to escape the pull of its mysteries. Everyone born here gains magical abilities at sixteen, whether they wish for them or not.

A blonde girl, likely in her early twenties, walked the dark streets alone, hands stuffed in her pockets, her hair whipping wildly in the wind. A thin blue stream of energy snaked around her feet, entangling them and making her stumble.

Laughter echoed through the night—three boys, younger than her, reveling in the chance to torment her.

"Was that fun enough for you, or do you want more 'adventure'?" Jake, the tallest of the three, sneered.

Clara rose slowly, brushing the dirt off her clothes. She winced, pain shooting through her ankle when she tried to take a step.

"Oops! Did someone twist her ankle? Don’t worry, I’ll fix it for you," Duncan, the shortest of the trio, taunted, moving toward her with a grin.

"Get away from her."

The boys froze. There was only one person in Lunaris who spoke with such a plain, cold tone: Eli. They hesitantly turned as if trying to confirm whether or not that voice was his. When Eli's figure came to vision, they quickly turned on their heels leaving Clara alone.

Looking at the familiar face in front of her, Clara couldn't form any words. She silently watched as Eli turned and walked away from her, only then was she able to utter a silent 'thank you'.

As she slowly limped home, she couldn't help but think of how much Eli had changed. Everytime she met him,it felt like he was a totally different person. She had tried talking to him a couple of times but he had ignored her and at a point asked her never to talk to him.

"Don't talk to me,Clara." he had warned. These words echoed in her ears over and over. She sniffed loudly trying to push back the tears threatening to wet her cheeks.

"How did you change so much...Eli?" she asked no one in particular as she thought of the cold expression on his face when he had looked at her before turning away.
