Being a Ladybug

The urge to sleep when the temperature dropped and the semi-poisonous blood were already a lot, but this, this was something else. She didn't really know if she should be afraid of the impact that the miraculous has on her or if she should be grateful.

It all starts one night, or maybe it was more of a morning than at night given that it was 2 am. She was in her bedroom, stressing about finishing a jacket for none other than the famous rock star Jagged Stone.

The man himself was really great until an idea came into his mind and he asked for a change in design just a day before an important event. 

So Marinette being the good designer she is, decided to pull an all nighter to work on her design even if her mental health would take a hit. She had already drowned 2 mugs of coffee and a small plate of desserts was placed on her desk for her to snack on.

She was so focused on embroidering the leather piece with silvery thread that she, in fact, didn't even grasp a hint of the purple butterfly coming her way. The insect being attracted by her stress level.

Tikki was already asleep, having long ago accepted that her chosen wouldn't go to sleep before finishing, so she couldn't have seen and come help.

Marinette herself might not have seen it but, her subconscient did acknowledge its presence and decided to act on it.

In the space of a second, her head moved to catch the insect between her tooth and then got back to her previous position.

For a solid minute afterward, she didn't register the fact that she was chewing on something but when she did, it was already too late and she swallowed the small butterfly thinking it was probably a pastry or something like that. 

The same thing happened a few more times after that and each time she was so focused on what she was doing that she didn't realise what exactly she was eating and because Hawkmoth was careful not to try to akumatised her in public nobody was present to tell her.

Things could have stayed that way if it wasn't for one Lila Rossi.

When the liar "came back" from wherever she was supposed to have  gone, she made a point to spy on Marinette to tr finding blackmail material.

So when the next akuma came, tracking the half Chinese girl who had already evaded so much of Hawkmoth attempt, Lila was filming, waiting for the girl to turn into a monster.

But instead, she watched as the young designer head snapped toward the insect coming from the open window, her mouth opening itself in a swift motion. Less than a second later she ate the small purple butterfly before turning back to her sketch as fast.

Lila stayed hidden for a moment, wondering if what so just witness really happened. She played the video a few times and each time the same thing happened.

The next class she made a show in front of Mrs Bustier. She made it seem like she didn't want to show the video but was to scared to do otherwise. The teacher linked the phone with the computer with Max help and then played the video for everyone to see.

Gradually, the colors left Marinette face when she realised that one, Lila was around filming her and to she apparently ate butterflys now. And not just any butterfly but an Akuma one.

Every classmate of hers turned to the back of the classroom where she was sitting. Lila made an excuse for the fact that she was filming. Saying that she only wants to make Ladybug's job easier so she had followed the butterfly to try helping his victim.

Nobody really carred about what she said, only wanting to get the why out of Marinette. The girl was panicky so she blurred out the only thing that her mind gave her. 

- Akuma can't get to you if they aren't in an object, so I just kept it until Ladybug came to de-evilised it.

Suddenly, everything was right again for her classmates. She should really think about finding new friends, her mind supplied.

After that the day seems to pass really slowly for the Ladybug chosen and when the final school bell rang, she was at the classroom door, bidding goodbye to her class. The faster she was home, the faster she could ask her kwami about her eating habit.

She wasn't even home when she heard a ding signaling a notification for the Ladyblog. Sure enough Alya had already posted about the new way to "contain" Akuma. Marinette felt a migraine coming. She really didn't need people running in the street of Paris with their mouth opened to try to catch the passing butterfly.

Surely she had seen Tikki purified Akuma by eating them and Ladybug's eat butterflies in nature, but why did she have to get that specific Miraculous side effect. The Ladybug Kwami herself didn't know how Marinette had done that, but she reassured her by saying that at least that way she hadn't been Akumatized.

That statement sent the girl spiralling again about the fact that she had been so close to getting Akumatized. Fortunatly, the goddess managed to calm her chosen enough for said chosen to be able to think again. 

10 minutes was all she needed to put together a plan to get the bunny miraculous from Master Fu and go back in time to warn herself from Lila. Tikki wasn't really okay with it but the deity did approve the fact that civilians could be in danger if they tried to interact with the evil insect.

Fortunately enough, the guardian wasn't home and she knew the password for the Miracle box. A quick explanation to the Time Bunny Kwami later and LadyBunn was opening the burrow.

She made sure that Lila wouldn't see her and separate the two Miraculous to be left with only the Ladybug costume on. A swift motion later, and the evil butterfly was trapped inside her yo-yo. The past Mainette was troubled by the sight of herself and visibly tensed, but upon seeing the hidding floating bunny she relaxed a bit.

- I'm really happy to have got here fast enough for you not to be akumatized Marinette. You would have been really hard to fight. 

The still shocked Marinette nodded, not really understanding why what seem to be her future self was here.

The previous mentioned gave a quick look at the sketchbook her past self was holding and quickly grabbed a pen. She turned to a blank page and write why she was here, including the new ladybug tendencie and how Lila was following her.

Her mission being done, she salutes her younger self and hopped through the window. Then she opened her yo-yo to let free the insect and hid herself to go back to her place in the time flow.

The burrow closing behind her she quickly put back the miraculous in its place and got home looking into the Ladyblog for a mention of the new way to catch akuma but find nothing more than the update of the last akuma.

She didn't really want to try to understand how exactly all of the time thing works and just figured that should something happened Bunnix would come. Tikki was thinking the same, but she decided that Marinette should learn how to de-evilised akuma with her mouth instead of just eating them.

Marinette wasn't really happy about that decision, but she figured that should she stay in the habit of eating evil butterfly she should at least not need to swallow them.

And so the lessons on how to properly eat evil little purple butterfly infused with magic by an evil maniac started.
