3: Unexpected.
I have to take Leo with me to school today. You are probably thinking 'Thats so weird why do the school even allow that'. All i'm going to say that its not exactly a very good school, they know my situation and as long as it doesn't happen often they will relax the rules a little bit. I'm dreading it. Lolo won't get in the way at all as long as he has his Lego and some space then he is happy. Courtney and her crowd though I can already imagine the comments.
The reason I have to take Leo with me is that today is the day Luke has 'The Meeting'. It is a meeting where the band will find out all the information about being the support act of 'One of the biggest boy bands in the world' No one knows who the boy band is though. Luke will find out today hopefully.
You are proberly also wondering if we got the results as to whats wrong with Leo. Well the answer is no we didn't. We got a call asking us to come into the surgery to have 'A talk'. That is after school today. Hopefully Luke is back from the meeting by then.
"Are you ready then?" Luke asks me handing me the bag he packed for Leo. I take a big breathe determined to make sure Luke doesn't find out exactly how nervous I am for today.
"Yeah yeah i'm fine Leo lets go" I know Luke has clocked that somethings wrong but he doesn't say anything.
I suppose a good thing from the tests that Leo went through last week is that he seems a lot more aware. Always making sure either me or Luke are near and always listening, so he understands what we tell him to do now as he always has his ears open. This reasures me, at least he understands english even if he doesn't speak it.
I pull the buggy out of the cupboard.
After brushing all the crusty bits of food out of the pushchair, I hang all the bags on the back and place Leo in it before saying bye to Luke and leaving out the front door.
Its a lovely crisp spring morning, the weather almost makes me forget about all our problems. Almost but not quite. As soon as I am at locker Courtney and her friends appear before me.
By this point Leo is getting very anxious. He hates big crowds.
"So I see you brought your offspring with you to school then you whore. Who's is he then? Someone you picked up of the street? You discusting prostitute" Courtney snarls.
Normally I would just ignore all the comments she makes but not one about Leo and how dare she use language like that in front of him!
"Excuse me but he is my little brother and you know as well as I do that that's the case, now would you mind out of my way and not use such discusting language in front of a three year old." I stick up for myself.
By this point Leo has figured that something is wrong. He knows I never ever speak like that. His eyes find mine and in them I see fear, worry and guilt. Poor thing he thinks its his fault. I quickly pick him out of his buggy place him on my hip, grip the buggy with my other hand and do what I always do in these situations that happen about twenty times a day. I walked away.
I glance down at my watch. 8:50. Crap five minutes to get to form. Leo is crying because of all the people and has already begun to get fidgety. He wants to walk. No way am I going to let him though with all these hormonal teenagers around, ready to pick a fight with anyone. I place him on my back, giving him a piggy back ride with one hand while steering the push chair with the other. I am an expert at multi-tasking if nothing else. Suddenly I hear Leo scream out. I immedietly turn round. Guess who I see. Yes it's Courtney yet again.
At this point Leo is crying even louder on my back. Bless him must be so daunting for him in such a big place with so many people around.
I don't know what Courtney did to Leo to make him scream out but I wasn't going to let it go or stick around to find out. I place Leo on my hip again and he clings on for dear life. I start to push through the crowd to my form room. Great, second encounter of the day with Courtney in what, ten minutes?
