Mattia
I pull into the driveway, engine rumbling as we come to a stop. Sophia fidgets in her seat, fingers clumsily tugging at the door handle, trying to push it open. It's stuck. Typical. I lean back, watching her struggle for a moment, amused by how stubborn she can be.
Without a word, I reach over, my hand brushing hers as I grip the handle. A simple click, and the door swings open. Easy. I glance at her, close enough to feel the heat from her face. Her cheeks are flushed, her eyes wide when I meet her gaze.
"You look better up close," I murmur, my voice low, teasing.
Her face turns crimson, and she doesn't say a word. I can't help but glance at her lips, wondering what would happen if I just kissed her right now. Jesus, it wouldn't be a big deal. Just one kiss, right?
But then the fucking moment is ruined by her phone buzzing. I glance down at it, sitting between us, and without thinking, I grab it.
She tries to reach for it, but I lift it higher, out of her reach. "Uh-uh," I smirk, glancing at the screen. Fucking Jack. Of course.
"I'm tired of waiting. When are you getting here?"
"Guess I'm not the only one tired of waiting." i mutter under my breath, not even sure if she hears me.
I swing open the car door, stepping out into the cool night air. Sophia follows, looking stunning in her dress. We head toward the party, the bass pounding like a heartbeat.
Suddenly, she stops, her eyes widening as she spots someone across the yard. "Oh, that's Jack!" she exclaims, waving excitedly.
I force myself to keep walking, but jealousy gnaws at me.As we approached Jack, I noticed him turning towards Sophia, his smile widening. His confident features stood out-brown hair, and striking brown eyes that seemed to sparkle. He looked as if everything around him faded when he saw Sophia, like a star shining bright at a party.
Without hesitation, he moved closer and wrapped her in a tight embrace. I watched them with narrowed eyes, feeling a surge of frustration. Her face lit up with joy in his arms, and it made my chest tighten. How could he be so easy in her life?
While they were talking, Jack finally noticed me standing there, pausing slightly. With a sly grin, he said to Sophia, "Didn't you introduce me to your new friend?"
Sophia glanced at me, a hint of confusion in her eyes, before responding, "This is Mattia, my friend."
He look at me and then I said " hi"
After one hour
Sophia was in her element, moving through the crowd like she owned the place. I watched from the couch, feeling like a goddamn outsider. She was taking every drink handed to her, laughing and chatting, a smile plastered on her face. It was like the alcohol was turning her into this carefree version of herself-just another party girl.
