“Come on, come on, come on. Please let me see!” I begged the computer screen for the hundred time today. I was sat at my computer and refreshing the website from Miranda, one of my good friends that I met in the hospital, back in the day when I still did chemotherapy. She called me a week ago and said that she was going to write a little letter about me and her story and that she was going to post it on her blog. I refreshed the page once again and finally opened the page I was waiting for.

I value things, not for their worth but for what they mean. We all take life for granted, knowingly or unknowingly.

A year ago my sister, Marley, died from cancer. I didn’t sleep for weeks and had nightmares almost every night about her dead. My parents had to put me on a therapist and every Tuesday I had to go to the hospital and spent over an hour there.

This kept going for three months, but one day when I opened the door to her office I saw a girl about my age seated on the chair. When she saw me she smiled at me, and that was one of the most honest smiles I had seen since Marley died.

After 5 minutes I found out that her name was Grace and she had leukemia. Then she told me a little about her story.

She also told me that my sister was in a better place, because now she didn’t have to suffer any more from her cancer. That now she could finally rest in peace.

Grace told me that my sister was watching me when I was listening when others talk, when I was walking and even watching me when I was enjoying a good chocolate ice cream.

She said that I shouldn’t let a single day pass without telling the people I love that I love them. Because they should know. Because I knew. I knew my sister loved me, and that was the only thing I should remember. That she loved me.

After that day I started to sleep more and I understood that for each minute we close our eyes we lose sixty seconds of light. So in that day I let my sister go.

Now I repeat again, we all take life for granted, knowingly or unknowingly…

Life is precious, Thank God for every second of ‘life’ we enjoy!

Have a blessed day every one!!

I smiled as I closed the computer to find Drew making me jump a little from the chair.

“Are you ready?” he asked smiling.

“What the hell?” Drew simply stood by the door, watching me.

“Sorry, Brooke let me in”

“Why are you here anyway?” I asked, stifling a yawn. I wasn’t entirely awake yet to be honest.

“I need to help you with something remember?”

“Oh yeah, you’re going to help me to complete my list right? I still think you won’t make it but whatever.”

“Yes, and I have something for you” Drew said.

“And what is that something?” I asked excitedly. I love surprises and I couldn’t wait to see what he had brought me. Drew laughed and put an envelope on my hand. I looked at it confused. My name was written on the top in a blue color.
