Yan Jue stared at the mouse, unsure of how to react.

Qi Xianqing looked at her earnestly.

Yan Jue felt she should at least show Qi Xianqing some respect.

So, she opened her mouth and bit down firmly on the mouse.

The night was quiet.

Qi Xianqing leaned comfortably against the pillow, a small wooden box flipping around at her fingertips.

Yan Jue quickly recognized what Qi Xianqing was holding.

The Shadow Capture Box.

With her eyes closed, Qi Xianqing seemed to immerse her consciousness into the box, as if she was observing something.

Her brows lifted, and a flicker of joy sparkled in her dark eyes.

Yan Jue suddenly grew curious.

What kind of photo made Qi Xianqing so happy?

Seemingly sensing the little fox's gaze, Qi Xianqing brought her two fingers together and gently swiped the top of the Shadow Capture Box.

A faint blue light flashed out.

Yan Jue was momentarily stunned, as if watching a projector, observing the scene before her.

A picture was projected onto the blue gauze curtain, which was an image captured by the Shadow Capture Box.

It was actually her!

The girl in the image wore a cerulean Daoist robe with narrow sleeves, a large sword strapped to her back, her fair face flushed from the heat, and two sandbags tied to her legs as she climbed a mountain.

Qi Xianqing's voice was filled with amusement: "So silly."

Yan Jue's expression instantly darkened.

Is this what you call politeness?

The next image was from Xiaoxing Village.

The little girl Yan Jue leaned against a boy, frowning with a look of deep reluctance.

Then there was one from Fengxian Town...

Qi Xianqing flipped through the photos, appearing bored.

Yan Jue noticed that she seemed to particularly enjoy taking pictures.

It wasn't just during their mission together; Qi Xianqing had also taken many photos during her own missions.

Suddenly, the image shifted.

It was a nest of black kittens.

In a cave, six skinny kittens with green eyes stared at Qi Xianqing, looking somewhat cute.

Qi Xianqing stared silently at this photo, lost in thought.

Yan Jue felt a bit puzzled.

Why did Qi Xianqing suddenly seem so down?

Qi Xianqing rubbed the little fox's head: "When we went to Jiangnan on a mission that day, we were dealing with a cat demon that was causing trouble in a residence."

Jiangnan? Yan Jue suddenly remembered that last time she went to the Empty Mountain with Du Ming to collect spiritual herbs, Qi Xianqing happened to be on a mission in Jiangnan.

"I regretted how I handled things afterward."

Qi Xianqing continued, "There are many ways to deal with demon beasts. Maybe killing it isn't always the best choice."
