The week had been good for Chan, filled with little cheek kisses and warm hugs, though he resisted the urge to do more. He came into the dance studio just in time to see Changbin hovering over Seungmin, who was lying back and laughing. Something about the scene triggered an odd nervousness in Chan, making him hurry over to them.
This wasn’t the first time, either; yesterday, it had been Hyunjin in the same position, and the day before that, it was Lee Know.
“Hey, Chanie hyung!” Felix called, appearing from behind and throwing himself onto Changbin.
“Aaaah!” Seungmin screamed, laughing louder.
“Let’s start practicing,” Chan said quickly, gathering them all together and beginning the session.
“Alright, break time,” Lee Know announced, reaching for his water bottle as he sat down.
Chan turned toward Seungmin, hoping to steal a moment with him, but Seungmin had already gone over to Changbin and was now sitting in his lap. Changbin didn’t seem to mind at all; he was resting his head against Seungmin’s back, completely absorbed in his phone, while Felix chatted with them.
A quiet unease started to grow in Chan. He wanted Seungmin to treat him with the same closeness he showed Changbin. He craved more of Seungmin’s affection and warmth, but Seungmin rarely gave it to him.
“Seungmin, can you help me with some pre-recording later?” Chan finally asked, hoping to catch some time with him.
“Sure, hyung,” Seungmin agreed, promising to meet him at the studio after practice. On his way there, someone suddenly grabbed him and pulled him into a changing room. Since this was their office building, Seungmin hadn’t been paying attention to his surroundings, so the abrupt movement startled him. He let out a scream, but a firm hand covered his mouth.
“Hyung, you scared the crap out of me!” Seungmin exclaimed angrily when he realized it was Chan. Although he knew Seungmin had every right to be mad, Chan felt a pang of hurt.
“You’ve changed, Minnie,” Chan murmured, moving closer.
Seungmin looked at him, confused. “What’s wrong, hyung?”
It felt like Seungmin was so far away. They used to be so close, especially before their debut, but now Chan couldn’t bear the distance he sensed between them. He wanted those moments back, the times they would listen to music, dance, and just have fun together.
He closed the gap between them, but Seungmin resisted, still mad. This only made Chan more emotional, and a bit too intense. He took Seungmin’s hand, pressing him against the door and kissing him. The sudden shift in Chan’s behavior made Seungmin nervous, but seeing the pain in his eyes, he easily gave in.
Chan kissed him as if he hadn’t had a single taste in days, biting and sucking on Seungmin’s lips. Seungmin, sensing Chan’s desperation, caressed his hair and wrapped his arms around his neck, calming Chan’s intensity. Slowly, Chan softened, finally pulling back. He buried his head against Seungmin’s chest, tears silently falling as Seungmin ran his fingers through his hair, rubbing his back in slow circles.
“Hyung… let’s talk,” Seungmin whispered, confused by Chan’s actions.
“Why do you give in so easily?” Chan suddenly asked.
Seungmin didn’t know how to answer; he just wanted to help his leader without risking his reputation.
Seungmin’s silence made Chan’s frustration rise.
