Boom! It all happened so fast. I couldn't really see. My legs were swallowed up by pain. It was hot and cold all at the same time. "What am I doing on the ground? Why am I here?" I needed to answer all the questions that I had, but then I remembered something: Oh no. "Emily!"
Chapter 1
My name is Jackson. I'm your basic 15 year old boy. Sports, school, all that kind of stuff. I play basketball, football, and track. I hang out with the other jocks and popular kids sometimes, but I've made for myself a group that I am very pleased with. Okay, so there's me, Emily, and Aydan. Emily is your basic tomboy-girl. She rides a skateboard, and she is GOOD, but she is like, OBSESSED with nature. Not like those weird yoga people, but in the sense that she could survive and thrive. She likes guns, pocket knives, blowguns, and stuff. It's like she wants to be in the Hunger Games or something. I love that she loves those kinds of things. I think that it's sick. Then there's Aydan. He is the type of guy who looks like a gym bro, but loves art. And that's because he does. He has a good, strong build, but also likes sketching and painting. Things like that. The thing is, though, he's good. Literally. He is the best at anything he tries to do. I love the will-power and enthusiasm he shows for his hobby.
Our group is probably labeled as weird or nerdy, and I can't really disagree, because we are. We are the A+, goody two shoes, teacher's pet kind of kids. Honestly, It's not so bad though. We're the ones that like swords, and draw dragons. I think we would do great in the medical times. Dragons, knights, fencing, princesses, princes, castles, swords. Honestly, sign me up. That, that sounds like fun to me. Oh shoot, swords! This week, we get to make a medieval weapon for class, and I'm gonna make a sword.
I'm a metal welder. My father taught me all about it when he saw that I took interest in it, and he said we would weld together. He died in the army when I was 10. I'm going to continue to weld in memory of him. I want to make him proud, proud that his legacy has been passed on. Anyways, I have to start on the sword. It's going to be so fun making it, and then showing it off. I can't wait.
I like school. I don't like Social Studies, but I like every other subject. Math, ELA, Science. All the boring ones, I know. I think my favorite one, though, is History. It is the one that we are doing the Medieval project in. It teaches us about presidents and scientists, but I love when we learn about Knights. Castles, treasure, dragons, princesses. It's so cool. Oh crap! I'm late for school!
Chapter 2. Emily
I can't wait for Fall Break. Then I would have all break long to hang out with Jack and Aydan. We are going to finish the medieval weapons thing during Fall Break, but today we are going on a field trip. We are going to a medieval museum-type thing, you know, to get an idea of what medieval weapon or armor piece to make. Me, Jack, and Aydan are all making swords. Mine will be out of clay, Jackson's will be out of metal, and Aydan's will be out of cardboard. I'm so excited. Jack is getting a head-start on his, because it takes quite a long time to make. I can't wait to show mine off.
This is the first field trip of the school year, so I hope it's fun. I'm sure it will be, though. They are going to make us lunch there. I brought snacks, though, just in case someone is hungry. We are having sandwiches and fruit for lunch, and there will also be chips and sodas. We are going to be there all day; Isn't that great?
Chapter 3. Aydan
Hopefully this place gives me some design ideas for my sword. Hanging out with Jack and Emily is going to be a blast. I'm also gonna use this place to write a report about, for another class, because, why not? I have cards that we can play with on the ride there. I also brought my notebook, because, why wouldn't I? I brought snacks as well, cause i'm sure one of us is going to get hungry, you know? I think that this field trip is going to be quite fun; I can't wait.
"I win!" Emily shouted. "Third time in a row!" "Don't rub it in, Emily" said Jack, in a half-awake tone. "Dang Jack, you sound pretty tired man. You can go to sleep if you need it." I could clearly tell he was tired, so I was just trying to be helpful. "No thanks, I'm good." Jack replied. "Okay then," I said as I shuffled the deck of cards, "What game do we wanna play next?" Totally ignoring me, Emily asked, "Can I try? I'm not very good, but I could be if you teach me how to shuffle." She was very persistent, and she was giving me those puppy eyes -the ones that they use when they're trying to get something that they want - so I finally caved in. "Oh, okay," I said. "So here, hold the cards like this. Okay now, so what you do is you split the deck in half, " I then taught her where to place her hands, and how to shuffle the cards. (I even taught here some cool shuffling tricks.) After many attempts, she finally got the hang of it. She was pretty stoked when she did. "So?" I asked. "Oh yah," she said, " Thank you for teaching me to shuffle. That was super sweet of you. Now, who wants to play Speed with me?"
Chapter 4. Museum
Once we arrived, I knew it was going to be cool. You could just tell. "Woww, look at that Knights suit!" I said as we passed the entrance of the museum. Aydan and Emily were also looking at the suits through the bus window. Emily ecstatically said, "I just can't wait to get off this bus and go explore the museum!" Aydan agreed, "Yah I know! Just look at that septer!" Then, I decided to ask, "You guys are going to be part of my group, right?" "Duh." Emily said sarcastically. I don't think that she intended it to come out like that. "Sorry, that sounded rude," she said. I had guessed it. "Of course i'll be in your group, Jack." Aydan said, "why wouldn't I?" "Honestly," I sighed, "It was kind of a stupid question to ask. I was just curious, and I just can't wait to get off this bus." I knew that they felt the same way. We were just too excited. The teacher then stood up. "Alright kids, you need to get into groups of three. Stay together, and be respectful, alright? Meet back here at noon for lunch." The teacher forgot to mention something, so I raised my hand to ask about it. "Miss Johnson, I think you forgot to mention something." I stated quietly. "Oh, you're right." She then stood up again, and spoke in a loud, teacher-like tone, "Before you get off this bus, I need to say five things. #1, No PDA. Just, don't. Got it? #2, No bullying or excluding other kids. #3, No touching any of the artifacts. #4, No going outside the Museum boundaries. That means no going across the street for McDonalds, no taking walks to other buildings, and no going into rooms that are off-limits. And finally, #5, have fun! You're dismissed." She then breathed a sigh of relief, and walked off the bus. Many of the students joined her, but some of the students stayed behind to chat for a while. "I'm so stoked to go into this museum. I hope they have stuff about dragons," Aydan proclaimed. "I know! I love dragons!" Emily said with excitement. I then chimed in, "Dude, I love dragons. Dragons and treasure. Actually, that has a ring to it; That should be a book title: Dragons and Treasure. That should totally be a book." Emily and Aydan laughed with me as we walked off the bus.
