It was the last week of school, and Seri was excited to be trying out the second grade. But her parents were more anxious than excited. They e-mailed the teachers letting them know that Seri would be trying out for the second grade tomorrow.
James decided to tell Mina that he wanted to stay with Seri tomorrow, like follow her, just to make sure she was safe.
" I need to be with Seri tomorrow, I'll check out the school, just so she will stay comfortable. " Mina was reluctant, but she said alright. Mina was too busy tomorrow to take Seri to school anyway.
Then, Daniel (Seri's older brother) walked in saying: " Mum, why is Seri going to the grade above me? I thought since she is younger than me she should stay in the grade below. "
Daniel felt a bit neglected, they both knew that. James told him, " Well, Daniel, your sister is really smart, and the teachers thought that moving Seri up 2 grades instead of one would be a good idea so she is challenged more. "
Daniel said sadly; " So I am not as smart as Seri? Even though I am older? "
Mina knelt and said: " Of course you are smart, you and your sister are some of the smartest kids I know. It is just you are better at sports than your sister, and your sister is better at maths. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You are also good at maths but not better than your sister, and Seri is okay at sports, but not as good as you right? Honey, everyone is good at different things, like I am good at art right? And your dad is good at football like you, right?"
" I guess so, but I am still better at football than Dad. " Daniel said with a cheeky grin on his face.
" Woah, we have to see about that buddy. " James replied.
Mina said; " And maybe if Seri likes second grade and moves up, you will beat her in PE when you move up since you two will be in the same grade. "
" Of course, I will! "
