Based mostly upon the Bayverse version of the characters, as those are the ones I grew up on. Not all will be from the Bayverse though.
Alarms blare as the lights flash red with emergency. Immediately the people around the lab are in a panic. A voice comes over the intercom, and speaks the words they all feared hearing.
"Decepticon signatures inbound. Initiate evacuations. Make your way to the exits now."
This day had started completely normal. A sunny morning, a cup of coffee, minor traffic, a quiet workday... Now this. Rowan and Luis exchange worried looks before their eyes train on the research subject before them. This was what the Decepticons were coming for; there was no doubt in their minds.
The artifact was cybertronian in nature, though the purpose had yet to be gleaned. It resembled a bipyramid of machine parts, glowing a subtle blue in the center. It was about twice the size of an American football, but a considerably light 35 pounds for something made of metal. Extensive testing found it had an energon signature, though it was not a significant enough amount to warrant radiation shielding. There was no reaction from the device to outside stimuli, so there was no sign of what the thing could be activated by. It was truly a mystery, but now obviously it held some importance to the Decepticons.
"Come on, let's get out of here." Rowan quickly drops everything she'd been doing beforehand. Even after messing with an inert hunk of scrap for weeks, she wasn't dumb enough to take a Decepticon threat lightly.
"Wait," Luis protests as he sees his coworker prepare to flee. "We've gotta take it with us, before they can get it!"
"Do you have a death wish?? They'll kill us. Let the autobots come and deal with it, while we get out of here." She tried to ignore his words as she grabbed her purse, throwibg it over her shoulder and walking for the door to their lab.
"...The autobots won't get here in time; They don't even know it's here."
Rowan stops in her tracks just before the door. They didn't know what this thing was, or why the Decepticons might want it... but they did know any advantage for the Decepticons would lead to more human bloodshed.
She turns on her heels and returns to Luis. Frustration covered her expression, but she knew what they had to do. "If we survive this, I better get a good explanation to why we keep this shit secret from them."
"I will make sure we do. Now, how should we transport this thing?" Luis finally stands from his stool, observing the device- the thing we'd yet to even give a name to besides a long research code in the computer systems.
Rowan scans the lab for a container or bag large enough to contain the thing, or even a sheet of fabric to wrap it in. Touching it bare handed was heavily discouraged, and yet it would take too much time to find a way not to.
Luis looks on in shock as Rowan sighs 'fuck it' and reaches forward. She wrapped both arms firmly around the device and lifts. It wouldn't be too hard to carry, but it would be impossible to hide the thing as they went, and certainly tiring the further they went. "Get the doors for me. My car is in the garage across the street, let's go."
Luis nods, needing no more persuasion as he ran ahead. They move together, having to weave between other employees and scientists who worked this building, but still making it to the exits in record time. Luckily everyone around them was moving just as swiftly, and none of them seemed to notice the alien thing in Rowan's arms. The last thing they needed was the security guards thinking she had a bomb or something.
Outside, their ears were assaulted by the sound of a jet flying overhead. They could even feel the gust of air as it passed, swerving between buildings at a dangerously low altitude. The two scientists share a worried glance before running into the street.
