"that fucker is back!"

Not two minutes later, the three of us hit the ground.

The first thing I noticed was how much worse the air was down here. In Asgard, there were no cars or factories polluting the environment. It's like driving to the countryside, only even better (and without neighbours spying on you because you're 'the New Kid').

"He's probably in that aircraft up there." I pointed to the Quinnjet that was flying right over our heads. "I'll go get him and then bring him down to you. He's not expecting you two, so you're the surprise effect."

Before Jill or I could object, Thor had taken off. Shaking my head, I made my way to a cliff just a few meters up. "Do we have any form of plan?" Jill asked on the path up. "Nope." We were silent for a moment. "He just wants to do this to say something cool or to show off to me, right?" "Oh, yes. He'll use any opportunity to impress you. It's kind of an honour though, I guess. I doubt he's ever chased after a single woman for so long before." I laughed weakly and leaned against the rock on the small platform, watching the lightning that illuminated the night sky. It was strange to see the familiar stars again. My stars. Over my earth.

"I don't think so either, but it's rather uncomfortable to accept a gift from one person when you would prefer to get it from another." I looked at her, surprised and slightly confused. But before I could ask what she meant by that, Thor landed in front of us with Loki. More like, Thor landed and threw his brother to the ground. But he just laughed.

I could feel the anger rise in me. I was certain I could hear my blood boiling. I bit my lip hard and held back, letting Thor take the lead.

"Where is the Tessaract?" I had almost forgotten that there was another reason we had come here than to humiliate Loki and inflict as much pain on him as possible.

"I missed you too," he grinned and my self-control snapped like an over-stretched rubber band. When Loki attempted to stand up again, I stepped towards him, grabbed him by the neck and pushed him against the rock wall. I could hear the air being forced out of his lungs. Another push followed when he recognized who was standing in front of him. "Thank your brother that you are still alive. It is only because of him that I have not sent you to Valhalla yet."

Behind me, Thor cleared his throat. "If you were to kill him now, he would end up in Hel, but go ahead." Confused, I turned towards him. "Why Hel? It is not a natural cause." "But he doesn't die in a real battle either," Jill replied, drawing Loki's attention. "What is she doing here?" We all ignored him. "That's stupid. You should rethink your rules." Damn. I really thought I had figured it out and the endless history lessons in the library had finally proven useful.

"Either way, you won't get the Tesseract. I sent it away. I do not know where." My grip on his throat tightened. Only now did I realize how much I liked this. The longer I held him like that, the more I toyed with the idea of simply turning his head until there was no more resistance.

"Don't hurt him. When he faces his sentence, he should still be able to talk." "What about other parts of his body? If he's locked in a cell, he surely won't need his legs anymore." My look was almost innocent when Thor raised his finger and started to say something.

The next moment, he was swooped up the ground by a comet-like-something and carried a few kilometres away. "What was that?" Jill asked, irritated. "I guess Stark. They'll be fine. Someone just needs to make sure they don't kill each other soon, but that can wait..."

I turned back to Loki and glared at him. The bastard was smiling again.

My forehead hit his nose. I heard the crack, saw the blood as I pulled back. My fingernails dug into his neck as I slowly leaned forward until my lips brushed his and our breath mixed. His scent of old books and morning fog struck me immediately, as I whispered, "I'm too excited to see you suffer to grant you a quick death."

When I pulled back, he was still smiling. But this time it was different. This time it wasn't provocative or condescending; it was knowing.

"By the way, I believe it was your sister who flew the Quinnjet. She looks a lot like you," he croaked, reminding me to give him some room to breathe. I was slowly getting the feeling that he was trying to make me hurt him. "You should shut up before I change my mind and torture the information out of you." "Then you would have done so already." "I broke your nose." "You could do much worse things to me."

Just as I was about to reply, I heard a deafening noise that knocked over the trees around the source. I slammed my knee into his stomach, causing him to buckle slightly, and put handcuffs on him that I had brought with me from Asgard - just in case. "Make sure he doesn't run away. Permission to hit him or do whatever you want. I'll go and see after the children."

When I got to the bottom of the small hill, the billionaire, the god and Captain America - wherever he came from - had already pulled themselves together and were coming towards me. "I must admit; I'm amazed that you two managed to get along on your own without bloodshed."

"And you are?" It was clear that Stark didn't remember me. We had only seen each other once from a twenty-meter distance when he fought a former business partner on the roof of his laboratory. So, I couldn't really blame him. "Dajana Romanoff. Former SHIELD agent, currently on duty for Asgard. We'll help you find the Tesseract and then see how it goes, but Loki will be handed over to us."

"Finally, someone you can talk to... Steve Rogers. Nice to meet you, ma'am." He held out his hand, which I took and shook. "I thought you were lost in the ice forever?" When you spent time with Coulson, you had little choice but to know all the details of the story. I went ahead and heard the heavy footsteps behind me that the three were following. "Yeah, I thought so too, but a year ago I was thawed out again." That actually wasn't the strangest thing that had happened today alone, so I decided to just take it and ask questions at a more appropriate time.

"Am I the only one who cares that she said Romanoff?" Stark interjected again. I shrugged. "Did you really think you knew anything about her?" He seemed to notice that I had made a valid point because he remained silent. "And what conclusion did you come to?" I asked Thor, who had now caught up. "None yet. Except that, we want to work together to get the Tesseract." I nodded. "We should take Loki somewhere where he can't escape as easily as here. What was your destination?" I asked the other two men.

"Furry said we should put him in headquarters," Rogers replied. At least he'd be well-guarded there, but there was one thing that still bothered me. He'd managed to get me out of a SHIELD facility, so getting himself out should be a piece of cake.

But this time, we were prepared for him. Two years ago, no one knew he was coming.

I couldn't tell if it was my voice of reason or one trying to deceive me.
